When God told Mary that she was going to give birth to his son, of course she was afraid. Even knowing that it was God's child, she must have been concerned about what the child would be like, and how much she would have to care for it and work. She was probably afraid as well, about God's plan for her. She loved the baby in her womb beyond words, even so.1
I think growing up, Jesus was a very good child. He was living for God, so he loved and forgave everyone he met. He was probably like most kids, but knew what was right and wrong, so wasn't as sinful as others.2
I also think that Mary loved Jesus like she loved God. Jesus was on the Earth to proclaim the goodness of God, and communicate with God for his people. So every time Mary saw him, it was like she was looking at God. She was probably not afraid of Jesus, because she trusted God and He was always with her.3
And obviously, if Mary hadn't been able to handle Jesus as a child, God wouldn't have picked her to be his mother.4

Sorry if this isn't what you were looking for in your contest. I typed up this story, then my computer combusted and I had to type it again, so it may not be as good. But I think I got all the criteria in there.

Very moving little story
I found this story to be a very pleasant depature from what I've seen here on storywrite. It's tender and loving and it is an interesting point of view as to how Jesus' mother Mary might have felt when she frist learned that she was pregnant and that she was having God's Son, no less. That thought alone, when it's brought to one's attention, is enough to make a person dizzy. I found it very refreshing and imaginative. Very well done.
