Angel/Buff fanfic: The powers that will be

As Angel, Gunn, Illyria, and Spike prepared to fight they were all holding a brave front, but deep down inside they were all intimidated and wished they could be rescued.  The end had come and they could die, but they only had themselves so that’s a chance they were willing to take. Just when they were about to fight a familiar voice called out to them “Thought you guys may need some help so I sent for reinforcements and here we are.” Buffy smiled. She was just as radiant as the days both Angel and Spike laid eyes on her. “Hello Luv I see you brought Faith, Red, Patch, and the whole lot of them.” Spike said looking at Faith, Willow, Xander, and the other potential slayers. Their reunion was short lived though because the fight was on and only some would survive, but Buffy didn’t care she just wanted to help as much as she could. The fight itself lasted for what seemed like weeks, but was only days and only some had survived. Illyria was one of the ones in the best condition then Willow, Angel, and Spike, but Buffy and Faith were barely conscious and Xander and Gunn were hanging on by a thread. The only potential to survive was Kennedy; the other potentials had died leaving Kennedy, Buffy, and Faith all of their slayer power. Xander and Gunn were brought to the hospital immediately and they were admitted for a few days, but everyone was sure they would be ok after some much needed rest. Angel was relived they had finally defeated the Big Bad, but he was worried about Buffy because even though she was stronger now then she had ever been she was wounded and he couldn’t help, but worry. He lightly grazed her face with his fingertips sinking in the bittersweet moment of feeling his lovers skin on his as he gently kissed her with such passion and love that his knees grew weak. “I don’t know what I would have done if I’d have lost you again Buffy! I couldn’t bear the thought of watching you die. I’ve missed you so.” Angel trembled letting the tears subside. Buffy was in shock not because of the big fight, but because of Angels emotions, he was just letting them all overcome him in front of everyone. He was wearing his heart on his sleeve and he never did that. “Oh Angel I missed you too and I’ve always loved you, but I don’t want you to think that me being here was a permanent thing because I can’t stay.” “Why can’t we stay Buffy? LA is so much better then Sunnydale ever was and there are loads of famous people. Come on Buffy please?” Everyone’s attention moved to a petite beautiful young woman pouting to Buffy. “Dawn what are you doing out here I told you to stay inside until I said it was alright. Regardless of that I don’t know if LA is the right place for you and me to live.” Buffy said in a motherly tone. “Well, I am so staying here, this place is sweet and besides I met this totally hot guy…here he is Buffy, this is Connor, Connor this is Buffy.” Angel and Buffy stood in shock as Connor and Dawn made mooneyes at each other. “You’ve got to be kidding me Angel’s Spawn and the slayer’s sister? This is classic just classic.” Spike laughed. As both Angel and Buffy screamed “What?!?!” In the mist of the confusion Willow watched as Illyria stared at Dawn with admiration she vowed to find out why Illyria seemed so interested in Dawn. As soon as they reached Angel’s old hotel and all the confusion was settled Buffy sat down amazed at what she had just found out while Dawn and Connor both looked at each other discussing their similarities. Willow couldn’t help, but shake the feeling that Illyria knew something about Dawn either that or she was a lesbian with a weird fetish for young girls.1

“Why do you look at me with such curiosity? I see the concern and I feel the great power you contain. You are a goddess and I am a King, but you wonder why I stare at the glow all around her.” Willow couldn’t believe he could read her mind, but she wasn’t afraid of this King because she knew he had some good in him if he fought on their side. “Yes I want to know why you have taken an interest in her?” Willow replied. “You see she is not just the key she has power beyond me and you. She is this world and every other world. She is the balance between good and evil and she holds the key to our existence.” Illyria stood there never losing sight of Dawn while Willow stood there in disbelief. “You mean to tell me that without her there would be no balance between good and evil? Without her we all wouldn’t exist? What powers can she possible have?” “The foolishness of your mortality has taken hold of you. This child does not know her powers yet, but she can become us, she will fight like ten slayers, use magic like a witch, and live like a vampire’s immortality.” Willow knew what Illyria was saying Dawn was not only the key, but she was a higher being as well. “What about Connor?  Is he a higher being?” Willow asked curiously. “The boy is unique, but he should not exist. He is not a higher being, but he has power and immortality just as the key does. If they were to bear a child that child could change the world.” Illyria replied. Willow didn’t know how to break the news to everyone, but when the time was right she would have to; until then she and Illyria had formed an understanding and would keep this between themselves. Meanwhile Spike and Faith sat alone watching Dawn and Connor’s growing attraction and waiting for Angel and Buffy to come back. “The bint and the old mans love child seem to be hitting it off like I couldn’t see that one coming.” Spike whispered. “Yeah and meanwhile B and Angel are probably wanting to screw its not fair I'm horny and I’m stuck with you. Not that you’re not worth a go at it, but sloppy seconds aren’t my style.” Faith whined. “Hey luv I had blondie after the old man and sometimes sloppy seconds aint so bad if you know what I mean.” Spike winked. This intrigued Faith and her flirtatious smile began to widen. “Man B had it made with you!  I just don’t get why she would even bother with Angel when they can’t even bump pelvises. If I was her….no I take that back I was her once and everything wasn’t five by five. So B remains a mysterious and so does Angel even though I was inside his mind.” “Angels a puppy dog she’ll never be able to see past him luv and as hard as we have both tried to grow a wedge between them its just pointless.” Spike said grudgingly. He looked down and out, but Faith didn’t want to see the poor soul cry so she patted him on the back. “Cheer up it aint so bad at least your not alone besides misery loves company.” “Well fancy face I’m sick of pinning away for someone who I have to play seconds too. Angel the Vampire with the soul all hale Angel, but what about Spike? I have a soul too and I helped save the world, but what do I get?” “Hey chill Spike I’m on the same page I’ve always played seconds to B, but I learned something you just gotta stop being so jealous and know that your important too.” Faith said with a little reassurance. Spike just smiled at the beautiful brunette realizing that they had a lot in common. “You know luv did I ever tell you, you were my favorite slayer? Not only did I see some vamps flinch, but I notice your fierceness a kind of fierceness I can relate too.” Faith laughed at this remark and for a brief second they locked lips realizing that this would be the beginning of a new exciting friendship. Everyone seemed to be pairing off Spike and Faith, Connor and Dawn, and although they wouldn’t admit it Angel and Buffy.  2

Most of their long conversation was met with many kisses and tears, they had both been through so much and this talk became therapeutic for the both of them. “I want there to be an us now, but as long as you are a vampire and I am human this will not work. I wish I had the power to make it so you had your strength, agility, and speed, but could still be human.” Buffy groaned. “I have done what the powers that be have asked of me and I have fought for justice so I believe my wish to be human again will be fulfilled.” Angel said hopefully. Just as he was about to embrace his lover once again a familiar face came forth in a flash of light. It was Doyle he was here after all these years and he had a message for them. As Angel stood in awe of his old friend he tried to speak, but he was cut off by Doyle “Angel it has been a while, but I am here now to give you something and tell you of the important things to come. Here in my hands is your humanity and Spikes, but with it you will be granted all those things Buffy wished she could give you, your agility, strength, and speed as a bonus from you to me.” Doyle paused then look at Buffy “Your sister has powers you do not know of, but you must show her these powers as she is a higher being when she and Angel’s son consummate their love her powers will awaken and he and her will conceive a child. This child could put an end to the destruction in this world or it could help bring more that is up to you, you all must help raise the child to be good. You cannot tell the young ones of their destiny it shall remain a secret between you and Angel.”  Buffy and Angel were in even more shock then finally Angel broke the silence “You say they will conceive a child, but when? And why are you giving both Spike and me humanity with all the perks when I thought the prophecy spoke of one who bore a soul?” “The child will be born soon. Dawn and Connor will conceive in less then a weak, but you must protect Dawn because even though her powers will awaken she will still be vulnerable to them and she will need all of your guidance. As for the prophecy it was written for one, but you both have proven yourself worthy of it time and time again so we had to bend the rules and give you what you deserved a chance at life, but the perks come because they are what you have become accustomed too. Now I must leave, but I want to apologize for the loss of your friends they did a great deed for us and they will be rewarded in a higher place.” Suddenly both Spike and Angels heart’s began to beat at the same time, but their happiness was short lived because not even a few minutes later there was a call from the hospital; Xander and Gunn had passed away. Buffy knew what Doyle meant now she thought it was peculiar when he said he was sorry for their friends death’s, but with Angel and Spike’s humanity came sacrifice. Spike knew Xander gave up his life for him and Angel knew Gunn had done the same for him, but they were both grateful and mourned the loss of their friends. Buffy couldn’t believe Xander would give up his life, but she knew that he missed Anya and he was being rewarded for his gift to Spike. Everyone was miserable because of their death, but they soon rejoiced in Angel and Spike’s newfound humanity. Willow, Buffy, and Dawn all shared their stories of how wonderful and corky Xander was, but in the midst of their stories Buffy pulled Willow aside and they both nodded in understanding as they looked at Dawn. Angel wanted to celebrate Xander and Gunn's life, but he promised not to waste the life they allowed him to have. Spike was so happy he kissed Faith in front of everyone then his smile turned to a look of worry “So are you disappointed?” “Why would I be disappointed?” Faith replied. 3

“I don’t know luv because I am not a vampire and there’s nothing mysterious anymore!” Spike frowned. “Well, I am not B I wasn’t into the whole vamp thing until she made it seem kinda kinky, but yeah your still sexy to me so everything's five by five.” Faith stared at Spike with lustful eyes then kissed him, but it wasn’t just about the sex he was truly her equal in every sense of the word. They didn’t care if it was meant to be or forever they just needed each other now and that’s all that seemed to matter. Realizing that they both could do whatever they wanted with nothing stopping them Spike and Faith decided they wanted to see the world while Angel and Buffy couldn’t get enough of each other. Illyria envied them all because he had nothing, not Wesley or happiness, he was truly alone. Oddly enough, Willow felt the same way as things between her and Kennedy weren’t meant to be and Kennedy decided to leave. She was needed in Cleveland where there was another Hell mouth and Willow decided to stay in LA with her friends. Before Spike left he knew he had to say goodbye to everyone first he would say goodbye to Buffy “Hey luv well I am not much for goodbyes, but if the old man aint treating you right and things don’t work out with me and Faith be sure to call me” and with that he kissed his old lover goodbye. Unexpectedly he took Angel aside “You got the girl, but then so did I and hey who knows if we’ll be enemies or even friends, but it’s been fun mate that much is for sure.” Spike shook Angels hand for the first time in a while and Angel nodded in agreement. “Where’s the little bint? Oh there you are luv!” Spike turned to Dawn then his gaze turned to Connor “You treat the little one right or else I will hurt you.” Dawn just smiled and gave Spike a hug as he got all teary eyed Willow approached him “See underneath all the hostility over the years you were just a big teddy bear” then before he could angry she hugged him whispering in his ear “Good luck with Faith and have fun William.” Faith wasn’t much for goodbyes so she just said she’d see everyone later and she smirked at Spike “Looks like Willows got a new friend I can see the sexual tension brewing.” Faith said looking over at Willow and Illyria.  “Awe Red and blue who would have known those two would get together?” Spike laughed. Then they were gone and pretty soon Angel and Buffy were left alone. “So my sister and your son? Who would have known? Doesn’t that mean it would be weird and highly dysfunctional if we got together again?” Buffy wondered. “We are already a dysfunctional family and besides I love you Buffy and we can finally have a chance together. I’m not going to rush anything, but I really want you to think about this because I can’t imagine my life without you. Through everything I have always wanted to be human, not just to feel alive again, not just to see the sunset, but to have a chance to be with you.” Angel said with adoration in his eyes. “I love you too Angel and I think I am ready to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you do me the honor of being my husband?” Buffy asked as Angel’s eyes widened.  “Hey you took my line! And yes of course I will marry you, but I thought I was the one that asked not the girl.” Angel replied. “Yeah well what can I say I am not traditional and I sure as hell aint like any other girl.” Buffy laughed then grabbed Angel and kissed him. They made sweet love to one another not wanting to ever let go of each other. In the meantime Dawn and Connor were both so surprised at how different, but similar they were to each other. He had this edge to him, but he was so sweet and kind she could not believe that they had a lot in common still.4

To Connor she had this bubbly personality and her charm was so appealing to that he couldn’t help, but want to spend more and more time with her. Later that night as Buffy and Angel were entranced in their passion and Willow and Illyria were probably asleep they both snuck out of their rooms to meet. They met in the hotel lobby where Angel investigations was started. Dawn was wearing a cotton white practically see through nightgown and Connor couldn’t help, but be captivated by her beauty and innocence. She was so pure, but his thoughts of her now were so tainted. “You are so beautiful, so sexy, so bright, and alive I can’t believe you even gave me the time of day let alone are standing here talking to me.” Dawn smiled as her eyes wandered from his face to his shirtless body then down to his boxers. “Your not so bad yourself hunny. I can tell you don’t like wearing much when you sleep.” Dawn giggled nervously. She couldn’t believe she had even had the nerve to say that, but every time she was around Connor she felt like she had never felt before it was like something was pulling them together and she didn’t know how to control her urges. It had only been a few days since they had met and already they were falling hard for each other. “Well normally I sleep naked, but since you’re here I thought it would be a little bit more comfortable if I wore some kind of clothing.” Connor said exuding confidence. Dawn smiled and awkwardly took his hand as he led her to a place where they would have more privacy. As Connor opened the door to their new hiding spot she realized it was one of the hotel sweets and he had lit candles all around the room with rose peddles all over the floor and on the bed. “Listen if you think I am just going to put out you’ve got another thing coming I’m still a virgin you know!” Dawn said with some authority in her voice. “No that wasn’t my intentions I mean I know it might look like it was, but I just wanted to make things special for you. I didn’t expect us to have sex maybe just kiss and cuddle.” Connor responded. Dawn quickly apologized for jumping to conclusions, but was surprised at Connor’s suggesting that they just kiss and cuddle when they hadn’t even kissed yet. To her amazement right after she thought this Connor pulled her into a sweet tender kiss slowly slipping his tongue in her mouth. The kiss began to intensify as neither one of them new what to do next. Everything was new to both of them and neither one of them could stop or break away from this powerful kiss. Before they knew it they had both reached the bed as Connor unsurely began to pull Dawn’s nightgown off she became bold and started to pull his boxers off. They stared at each other’s bodies for a moment as if they had not scene a naked body before. Her voluptuous bosoms and Connors scrawny body gave off a different impression they the one Dawn had of Connor and he had of her. He was well in doubt and that both surprised her and scared her at the same time, but the fear excited her even more so she soon gave into the temptation. Slowly he slid inside her pushing his way through her fragile walls, the pain was unbearable at first, but it soon turned to pleasure. She couldn’t believe how great making love actually was until her and Connor did it, her eyes begin to water and her mouth was dry from all the kisses, but her heart raced as Connor moved inside of her like a pencil in a sharpener. When their lovemaking had finished and both Connor and Dawn had climaxed there was this sense of relief as they both held onto each other. Abruptly Dawn sat up “Oh my god we didn’t even use protection and I am so not on the pill! How could I be so reckless and irresponsible? 5

What was I thinking I mean I’ve only known you a few days and I wanted this night to be special I just got so caught up in the moment.” Dawn squealed. “I didn’t plan for this to happen either I wasn’t expecting it to, it just did, but I don’t regret it. I should have stop myself though I should have learned from my mistakes especially with the whole Cordelia mishap. I think we’ll be fine Dawn, we will, I know you won’t get pregnant I just know it.” Connor said trying to comfort Dawn. Soon she just let the worry wash away as he held her in his arms one last time before they both slipped away to their rooms. Willow awoke to faint whispers curious she checked it out. It was just Dawnie and Connor sneaking out and that made her smile because she begin to remember all the times when she use to do that with Xander in high school. “Young love” she sighed. “The children act so strange with this look in their eyes, a look Wesley use to give me when he thought of Fred.” Illyria said standing behind Willow. “Oh you caught me off guard!” Willow said startled. Hesitantly she asked, “You were fond of Wesley weren’t you?”  “Yes he was different then other humans I have encountered, but I don’t know if it was the kind of love those children have.” Illyria said with some sadness in her voice. “Well, love like that might only come once in a life time if you’re lucky.” Willow frowned. “I feel this strange attraction to you Goddess, you are special I don’t know why I feel this strange pull to you maybe it is because I am lonely or maybe it is because we are kindred spirits.” Illyria sighed. “You remind me of an old friend of mine, Anya, she was once a vengeance demon then she became human, but you do have this sort of strange attraction about you.” Willow grinned. “You knew of Anyanka? We were allies at one time, but she was filled with so much revenge that it could never be something more. Are you pleased by my appearance or shall I look more human?” Illyria replied. “I think you look beautiful just the way you are, besides you would look more like Fred and she kind of reminded me of myself so that would be a little creepy.” Willow giggled. “So shall we mate or are we suppose to exchange more pleasantries?” Illyria asked daringly. Willow was taken aback, but she had succumbed to her loneliness and thinking this might be the chance of a lifetime she gave into Illyria’s advancements. All seemed well as Willow and Illyria spent the night together and Buffy and Angel were now engaged to be married, but what about Connor and Dawn would their one night of passion come with a price? Dawn closed the door to her room and stood there thinking about what had just happened and wondering why she felt such strange feelings inside of her body. Suddenly without realizing it at first Dawn began to levitate off the ground as her whole body started to light up she couldn’t help, but let out a loud shriek. She screamed so loud that she thought she could even wake the dead, but she was bewildered and beside herself because she didn’t know what was wrong with her. Buffy and Angel quickly dressed and ran to her door as Willow and Illyria soon followed. They all stared at Dawn with such wonder in their eyes, as Connor couldn’t believe what was happening to her. “And so it has begun” Illyria beamed. 6
