“My brother used to say that if you find a star that you just can’t stop looking at it’s because the star is the soul of someone you lost or who loved you looking down at you. He told me all those stars were what happened to all the people who died and didn’t have someone to remember them"1
"I watched the refugees and I watched the city- we are the same- same blood runs in our veins-same language we barter for food in- same feelings we have when we swim in the waves in the summer heat- same pain we feel to hear the shells ripping our world apart around us. I think the city people hate the refugees because they know when Dubrovnik is no longer standing then we will no longer be city people –but people without a home too. I think my mother and father and my teacher and my friend’s family are afraid that this war can take away more from us than we have already lost. We are afraid."2

Author notes
THe first quote is from my story - Never Again
The second is from Dancing Fires
I didn't pick my quote for the wording or language because in those stories the language is molded to the theme of the story and the message so it doesn't work well by itself. I picked it because it covers a message I wanted to get across in my story.

The sentiment in your 2nd quote is eye-opening for me; I'd not considered that angle before, and I find it deep and true to human nature. Great job.

I loved the first one. I am all about stars, man! lol. great stuff.

The second one is awesome, it's a little longer than I originally intended, but it doesn't matter much.
