I Thought I'd Never See You Again

While sitting in my room rocking out to Evanescence, I'm pulled out of my world. The phone rings one last time thewn stops. I walk over to see if my mom picked it up. I hear a deep voice on the other end. I turn down the music and listen into the phone.1

"Hi Janine" the man says.2

"Hi how are you?"my mom says.3

"Not so good" he starts to sob.4

*What the hell?*5

"Are you okay?"my mom asks concerned. 6

"No. Mom died this morning in her sleep" he starts to bawl.7

"Wha-" my mom starts to say.8

I didn't finish hearing what she said because i dropped the phone. *Grandma....died? This cannot be happening! My best friend???...My...Grandma??* 9

I walk over to my bed and floped down. I sarted to think about all the good times we had. When we went down to the lake and just sat there and looked up at the sky. When she took me shopping. She was like my own little fairie god mother *sniff sniff*. I walked over to my window and looked out into the shining sun. I would even call her my diary. We would sit on her bed and talk about boys and problems...She can't be dead. 10

There's just so many things we didn't get to do! We wanted to go around the world together. We wanted to go to the grand canyon! This just can't be happening!11

I hear a knock at my door and my mom walks in. She sees me crying and walks over to me hugging me tightly.12

"I'll leave you alone now" and she walks out.13

I look at the door and look back out the window. Looking at the sky a rainbow starts to form. I remembered what my grandma had told me abot rainbows. Something about pots of golds. I wanted to see if it was true not only because the "gold" but because i needed some fresh air anyway.14

I put on my sandals and sweater. Once outside i started to walk in the direction of the rainbow. 15

When i finally got to the end of the rainbow i didn't find a pot of gold, but i found something 10 times better...My GRANDMA!!! I ran up to her and hugged her like there was no tommorrow. I never wanted to let go,but she pushed me away. 16

She took my hand and the world around us bluured into a mist. When it cleared up we were in the grand canyon!!! We took pictures and bought hot dogs. When it was time to go i was reluctant to go, but i knew i had to. I took her hand and the world once again blurred. Back at the ned of the rainbow she let go of my hand. She moved back and started to fade. I reached to her, but all she did was shake her head and mouthed "i have to go now*17

"But i don't want you to go! We haven't done everything we wanted to do!" She shook her head and vanished. A tear ran down my cheek and i said, "I thought i'd never see you again" and smiled.

Author notes

Aw man..my grandmother is my best friend also, and even though she is still alive, this made me tear up. I think I'd go insane if my grandmother died.

I'm sorry that you lost your grandmother, and I don't know your beliefs in god and angels, but I'm sure she's looking over you right now and smiling.

It was alright, could use more detail, and be less repedative with "She said." "I said" "she says" "he says" and what not, it takes away from the emotion of the characters.

Awww, that was very sweet. I like the idea of finding someone we miss at the end of the rainbow. I wasn't sure who the man was on the phone for a while, though...you didn't say it was your father, so I didn't get that it was Grandma until you said so later.

wow this is a wonderful tale that you told. To find a loved one at the end of the rainbow was a very creative idea. Thanks for sharing this and thanks for entering it into my contest. You do have a few misspellings. But all in all it was written very well. Again thanks for sharing this and thanks for entering it into my contest.
