Every day I think about why this had to happen to me, and why I did this to her. I think about that night that we got into the automobile and drove to our own secret place where her and I could just lay and talk for hours at a time. I could still hear her melodic voice and soft brown hair. Her soft laugh and pearl white teeth burned through my memories, and most of all, her kiss. I could still feel her lips on mine on that night we went to that meadow, our secret place. By the moonlight her hair glistened like a small pool of silvery, luminescent water, but it was all gone now, and I could never turn back time.
It all started 3 months ago. I drove to her small house on the outskirts of the city to pick her up so we could go to that snow filled meadow, our secret place. I drove through the deserted streets to her bright white house, the pearl white house. She was already waiting for me by her doorstep. As she walked to my silver SUV, a luminescent silver as I always thought of it, I watched her beautiful brown hair wave in the bitter December wind. That lustrous hair put me in a trance and I couldn't here her knocking on the window and saying to unlock the door. I came back to earth and realized I had left the love of my life outside in the merciless cold. Quickly, I unlocked the door and let her into the nice heated car.
"You ready?" I asked her.
"Ready if you are." she said as she grinned widely.
I put the car into drive and found the freeway farely easily. Of course I had taken her many times before, but this time was special, I had somewhere else to take her before we went to that glistening snow filled meadow, our secret place. Her parents didn't know about us. They didn't care much for their daughter anyways so why would it matter if she was gone for a couple hours. I was nothing like her parents, I loved her with all my heart and all my soul. This is why I regretted my descision to risk the icy freeway roads on that fateful night.
In the mountains, the roads were iced over and as slippery as an ice rink. We slipped and slided over both lanes, and one time when the car lost traction and slipped, a semi came around the corner and hit the SUV head on. We were knocked over the side of the mountain and both of us fell into unconsciousness.
We both awoke at the same time. A brilliant white light filled our eyes and a colorful series of colors appeared before us. It reminded me of a rainbow, but this one was close up. We took each others hands and stepped onto the rainbow like road. Step by step we climed that rainbow hill together until we arrived at the end.
Gold gates opened up for us and gods promised land lay before us, we both stepped closer, but were stopped by God's one and only son, Jesus.
He spoke to both of us, and his lustrous voice sang out across the land: "I have stopped you because I am the one you must go through before you enter the pearly gates of heaven."
He called us over, and our final judgement finalized our eternal fate.
"Zach," he said, "you may go through and live your eternal life in the land of heaven because you have lived a God filled life filled with church and giving, but you will forever live with out your loved one because she does not believe that God gave his one and only son to forgive the sins of all beings. She will forever live her eternal life in hell along side with the devil."
At the end of the rainbow was heaven i told myself, but it was no heaven I wanted to be part of if she was not there to live with me forever.

This sounds like a bad dream, or personal fear. I like that heaven might be at the end of rainbows. I'd have to say, part of the God-filled life would need to involve choosing God over a woman, though, or it couldn't be, as you aptly point out, true heaven. Great story.

awwww I really do like the ending of this one... "at the end of the rainbow was heaven..." very nice. You have a love and you will always want to be with that person no matter if it be in heaven, earth, or hell. Great write you have here.
Thanks for sharing this with us and thanks for entering this into my contest.
