What I found at the end Of the Rainbow

Once i took a trip to the end of the rainbow. And what i found was amazing. Everyone always told me the tale of how i would find gold. I also heard a leprechaun would be there too, but those were all lies. So i decided one day, like every little kid does, to follow the rainbow just after it rained. My mom handed me a water bottle and basically tossed me out, she wanted rid of me like every other day...1

So i thought why not do something productive then just wondering around town? I went way out to the country, just were i could see the rainbow perfectly. I walked for ages, and ages and as i walked, i thought about all the possibilities of what i would find. I thought about how when i found the gold i would cash it in for money and run away from home, how i would get my own place or buy a car someday! I hoped the leprechaun would grant me a wish, i would wish for a different family...2

Soon i came into the deep part of the forest i had wondered into, it was getting dark and i was almost ready to turn back when i heard singing. A little voice form a little man was singing somewhere close. i followed the voice until i came to a clearing. And what i found was exactly what i imagine..err partially.3

There was a little leprechaun man dancing and singing and when he saw me he stopped. He moved out of the way revealing a mirror.4

"Where is the gold?" i asked impatiently.5

"No gold." he said smiling.6

"What then?" i asked again7

"Mirror." he disapeared. i walked up to the mirror and looked inside. And of course i saw myself.8

"So lame.." i said, and began to leave.9

"Your forgetting your wish.." the little man said reappearing. 10

Suddenly i snapped out of my trance. My mom threw open the door, drunk as ever, and began to yell at me. How bad i wished i could have that wish right now...

Oooh, totally had me going there, till the end! That twist was a nice surprise. And the mirror idea, very cool. Something about it is very magical and fantastical, and I kind of see how you could write out a short story or novella from this concept, if the mirror were real!

hummm.... very creative. I was not expecting that ending... a drunken mother is never good when it comes to a happy childhood. I know for a fact that is the case. However, your child character still has its imagination and thats a good thing. Thanks for sharing this. It reads very well. Keeps ones attention and uses imagery well too. All in all tells a good story.

Aww, sweet. Good job, Dawn! Aren't you glad your mom isn't really a drunk? I Vena! She is just awesome like that. And you are, too so do not worry about anything.
