"Untitled" Chapter 2

Kizzy parks in a parking lot that nobody remembers that it‘s there, she gets out of the car, strips down, and then change into a wolf. For a few seconds, sharp pain goes through her body, but then it starts to fade and fur grows over her body and she’s no longer able to stand on two legs. In her wolf form, she’s fully white, with soft fur. Her brother once said that when she’s a wolf, she’s beautiful and graceful. She shakes the human skin out of the wolf and takes off, leaving a trail of dust behind her. 1

The night is cool, and it feels wonderful to Kizzy as she runs through the woods in the cover of night, with only the half moon giving her a little light when she stops in a clearing. She looks up and howls her wolf song. She starts running again, twisting and turning, exploring new ground. As she runs in between the trees, her anger and her thoughts start to disappears. 2

After three hours of running around, she starts thinking she better start finding her way out of the woods. Kizzy starts running towards the parking lot where she left her car. When she gets to the edge of the woods, she changes into her human form and as if she does after she changes into a wolf, she shakes off all the fur that still clings to her skin. Kizzy runs towards the car, so she can get in as fast as she can. Right when she starts putting on her clothes, her cell phone goes off, “Hello?” She answers.3

“Kizzy, where are you? Come to my house ASAP,” Wade commands her and then hangs up the phone before she can say anything else.4

She puts her wavy hair up into a ponytail, which shows her tattoo on the back of her neck. However, this isn’t normal tattoo, at least not to her; she uses her own paw print for the outline. Then, on each side of her paw print is a quarter moon. The tattoo artist tried to persuade her to put colour in it, but she just wanted it black and white. Kizzy did agree to the shading though, which gave it more depth to it, and she liked it even better5

She rushes over to Wade’s house; she even run a few red lights on the way. Luckily, no cops are around, or she would have a couple of tickets on her driving record, and Brandon, Kizzy’s older brother, wouldn’t be too happy that she got speeding tickets and running red light tickets. As she gets closer to Wade’s house, she goes back to thinking about what Brandon and her were talking about before she left, his words echo in her head, “I want to be a werewolf, like you.” Now all she wants to do is yell at Wade for letting him think he can. She figures out what she’s going to say to him after the wolves’ meeting as she pulls up to the curb. 6

After she’s in the house, she sees that nobody else is here, “Where is everybody?” She asks Wade.7

He looks out of the kitchen, and she can see that he’s wiping his hands off with a rag, “Oh, it’s just you and I tonight,” his eyes grin with his lips. Wade’s hair is in his normal military cut that makes his dark blue eyes sparkle.8

“Then why did you tell me to come ASAP if it wasn’t important?” Kizzy’s face is full with confusion.9

“Because Brandon called me and told me that he told you that he wants to be turned,” he looks at her for her reaction, and her anger rises and Wade can smell it has if it is a fresh cooked meal. She heads towards the door, without a word, “Wait,” Wade jogs to get to her and take a hold of her arm, “please don’t leave. You have to think about this, you never had to go through this ritual and, he does. You may know what it’s like to be a werewolf, but you don’t know what it’s like to be shredded apart, with only an inch of life left clinging to you.”10

“That’s exactly why I don’t want him to go through with this. I’d rather lose him to old age than lose him because of you,” she raises her voice to him, knowing that isn’t the smartest thing to do towards an Alpha.11

“Yes, I know,” he looks straight in Kizzy’s eyes as he walks slowly towards her, “I’ve told him that, and Brandon also knows that. However, he does have a family history of werewolves being born in his family and that gives him an advantage over the others. If you trust that he’ll make it, and make sure he knows, then he will. He’s all in our thoughts, and he’s going to make it, I promise you.”12

Kizzy leans against the nearest wall, so she won‘t fall. She cries for her brother, Brandon, not really wanting him to become a werewolf, like her, “I can’t watch you tear him apart, please don’t make me,” she tells him as she look up at him with tears in her eyes and he puts his muscular arms around her, sending Kizzy some soothing feelings towards her, so she will calm down.13

He runs her fingers through her hair softly, almost as if he’s petting her like a newborn kitten, “I wouldn’t do that, and you should have known that.” He grabs Kizzy by the shoulders and looks into her eyes, “I won’t make you do anything you don’t want to, please remember that. I know you aren’t use to being in a pack, because you’re family took care of you when you were a kid, but please remember that I’m not like those Alphas who would abuse their pack members. That may be why we have such a large pack,” he smiles at the thought, knowing that he’s one of the best Alpha’s in the world. “I know you’re more independent than the others because of that, but never forget that I won’t make you do anything you don’t want to.”14

Kizzy smiles at him, knowing that he’s right, “Thank you Wade, that means a lot to me,” she hugs him tightly. “I should get home though, Brandon would probably want to talk about this more, and since I can sleep in tomorrow, we may end up talking about this all night.” She lets go of him, and he gives her a quick hug, tangling her smell with his, before she leaves his sight.15

By the time Kizzy gets back home, she smells the vampire from the other night in the woods, “Hello, anybody there?” She looks around, trying to hear anything, but everything is quiet. “Come on, I can smell you, Vampire.” When she called out for the vampire, she tenses up, readying herself to attack if needed be.16

Out of nowhere, the vampire from the other night jumps down from the tree, “Dia duit, Werewolf,” She grins, which shows her sharp incisors to Kizzy. “Nice night, isn’t it?” The vampire looks around.17

Kizzy just stares at her, “Who might you be, Vampire,” she almost glares at her, her pale skin which goes perfectly with her dark red hair, lighter than her hair and it’s completely straight. Her eyes are the color of Emeralds, but they seem a little paler than they should be, but then again, she is kind of dead.18

“I am Crystal O’Bree,” she curtsies to show she’s not here to harm her, “I wanted to talk to you about what we saw last night.”19

“You weren’t a part of that?” Kizzy asks, almost shocked.20

“No, not all of us vampires are evil creature, same with werewolves. I am from a noble line of leaders, I’ve been told by someone of my bevy that she’s been seeing something flying around in the woods at night. When I saw you there, I thought maybe your pack would know something about it, but you seemed just as surprised as I was when I saw it,” she explains to Kizzy. 21

She doesn’t know what to say, “Hmm, I can’t really talk about this right now… I haven’t even told the Alpha about that… Do you know what it was?”22

“Yes I do,” she looks away, “but I can’t tell you about it tonight. You need to tell your Alpha what you saw, I don’t care if you’re brother is thinking about becoming a werewolf, this is much more important,” Kizzy is in shock that Crystal O‘Bree, the vampire, even knows about that. Then, she flies away as fast as she appeared, Kizzy just watches and then she hears the door opening.23

“Kizzy come on inside, it’s a little chilly out here tonight,” Brandon tells her, but she can barely hear him through her thoughts.24

“Yeah, I’ll be in there in a little bit,” she keeps looking towards the sky, but the vampire isn’t there anymore.25

“No you won’t, come in now. It’s freezing out here,” Brandon’s voice is stern, like it was just that morning.26

“Okay, okay I’m coming,” she tells him as she faces towards him and starts walking towards her brother. Once inside, she takes off her shoes and leaves them by the door, and heads into the living room that is full of their mother’s cravings of wolves she made when their father was still alive. Every piece of furniture that’s in all of the rooms, they bought from the thrift store, (which means they don’t match) when they first moved into this house. It doesn’t quite feel like home yet, something is still missing but Kizzy can never figure out what. She keeps her socks on, since the hardwood floor is cold to the touch, but the house is warmer than it normally is. “Brandon, I’m sorry about running out when you really wanted to talk about, you know, becoming a werewolf. It scares me. The thought of Wade tearing you apart, but Wade talked to me about it and he’s right. I won’t be there watching, but I will stay with you afterwards. Just so I can bring you back to life and kill you myself if you die on me. I love you and even though I’d rather not have you do this, you truly have my blessing.”27

Brandon is shocked that she’s the one who said something first, “Well, thank you Kizzy that means a lot. Just so you know; I won’t die. I’m just as stubborn as you are, so there’s no way I would,” he smiles at her, and hugs her tightly. “But now I need to go to bed, since I do have to work tomorrow. Never forget that I love you, and I would love to talk to you about this all night, but some people do have to work tomorrow,” he laughs a little.28

“Yeah, and I’m tired from this whole day, and I love you too big brother,” she smiles at him, smelling him and making sure she imprints his image into her memory so, she’ll never forget what he looks like. “Good night Brandon, and don’t bother waking me up!” She grins at him, and he walks towards his room to get ready to go to bed. 29

Kizzy follows Brandon example, and starts getting ready for bed herself. She lies down in her queen size bed, happy that all she has to do tomorrow is clean the house, it may not be fun, but she feels normal when she actually gets around to cleaning. She falls into a deep restless sleep, with only her brother on her mind, worrying about him.30

Her dreams make her toss and turn; the creature that she saw in the woods has caught her brother. His blood fills her nostrils; his face is in pure terror. Kizzy wants to scream but when she tries, no sound comes out of her mouth. All she can hear is his screams and him pleading for help, “Please Kizzy, save me,” he keeps saying to her. When the creature looks up at her, chills goes through her spin making her shiver in her sleep. When she thinks Brandon is about to be killed, Brandon saves her from the nightmare by waking her up. She felt him shaking her, but she thought it was apart of the nightmare until she heard Brandon telling her to wake up.31

“Are you alright?” He’s still half-asleep, but the screams throughout the house had gotten him out of bed to run to her room before Kizzy's dream was completed.32

“Yeah I‘m fine, it was just a nightmare,” she tells her worrying older brother. 33

“Did you want to tell me about it?” He asks her with a warming smile on his face.34

“No, it’s alright. It’s been a long day and you still need to get some sleep, since you still have to work in the morning,” Kizzy smiles back at him, reassuring him that everything is fine and it was just a nightmare.35

“If you say so Kizzy. You know, for a werewolf you sure are jumpy,” he jokes around with her and nudging her, which brings a small smile to her face.36

“Yeah, I know. I’m still working on that. It’s not as if I go through weird things every day. If I did, I’d be a pro at handling the weird and nasty,” she nudging him a little harder. 37

“Yeah, but maybe one day you will be,” Brandon looks at her with those worried green eyes of his. “Now, I need to get a few more hours of sleep so I can actually get up for work in the morning. At least this time I don’t have to take the bike to work and will be able to take the car,” he grins happily, as if that’s the grandest thing that has ever happened to him.38

“Yup, you do. Now shoo with you!” She lays her head back on the pillow and watches Brandon turn off the light as he leaves the room. “G’night Brandon,” she whispers, praying that the nightmare was just a nightmare and not a vision from the vampire that keeps stalking her like prey, Crystal O’Bree.
