"Hello?" Mia says picking up the phone.1

"Hey its Bryan." He responds wishing this could be just a little easier.2

"Oh hey. Was going on?"3

"Nothing much you?"4

"Nothing at all. so... uh... what you doin today?"5

"Actually i was calling to ask you the same thing. I figured if you weren't doing anything we could go hang out at the six flags or something." Brian says trying to keep the conversation away from what he really wanted to say.6

"Yea that sounds like fun. What time?"7

"Can you meet me there or do you need a ride?"8

"I could use a ride if its not to much trouble."9

"Alright I'll be there in a half hour?"10

"that sounds great. See you then."11

As they both hang up the same thought flashed through both of there heads. "The first date"12

Half an hour later Bryan pulls up in front of Mia's house and honks to let her know he's there.13

"Alright mom I'm leaving!" Mia shouts across the house.14

"Don't be out to late! And I want to meet this boyfriend of yours!" Her mom screams in that motherly tone we all know to well.15

"We aren't going out were just friends! I'll see you around midnight!" She yells back as she walks out the door.16

Walking towards Bryan's car the only thing she can think about is whether he really does mean this to be there first date or if he took her response to mean that she didn't like him. She was really hoping it was the first possibility.17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------After honking the horn Bryan began to think about how he was going to do this. From the way she responded she was either Shocked out of her mind or didn't like him as any more than a friend. As much as he hoped she was just shocked he couldn't help but think the other one might have some form of truth in it. He had to know though. Whichever one was true he was going to try today and if she didn't like him, oh well at least they would stay friends forever.18

"Hey you ready?" Brian asks as she opens the door of his mini cooper.19

"Yea lets get out of here, my mom is scaring me." She said meaning the fact that her mom seemed to know what she was thinking.20
