Being who I am, I always want to have fun or hang out with my friends, joking and laughing all the day. Recently, this new girl came to our class, Sophie. She seemed nice and friendly, and was soon friends with me and my other friends. We exchanged phone numbers and often talked after school. Soon, she was to have her birthday and of course, I was invited. It was scheduled to be on Saturday and I could hardly wait. I talked my parents into letting me go as long as I stayed with my best friend, whom my mother trusted. Now nothing could stop me from going…1
“Mom! You can’t do this to me!” I was standing by the kitchen counter raging at my mom while she tried to console me and cook dinner at the same time.2
“Myra, dear, Annie was in a hurry and she wanted someone to take care of Daud…She will be back in a few hours…it won’t last long enough…”she pleaded.3
“But I wanted to go to Sophie’s birthday! All my friends are going to be there! I want to go too!!!” I cried.4
“I have listened enough, young lady. You’ll do exactly as your mother told you to.” My father had appeared behind me. He glared at me. “I’ll see that you do as you are told. You have grown up into a very disobedient person. Besides, your mother and I don’t trust that girl.”5
Angry, but without a word, I went to my room. Daud followed me. Once in my room, I turned to him.6
“It’s because of you, little guy, that I can’t go.”7
“I am sorry.” He was nearly in tears to see my temper so I hugged him half-heartedly. Then, I began to think up some plan. It was four o’clock and the party started half past four. Then, I had an idea…8
--------------------9
I pulled on my shoes and told Daud to do the same. Then, I went downstairs to find my mom.10
“Mom! I am taking Daud to the park!” Before my mom could even respond, we were outside. I sat the five-year-old Daud on my bicycle bar and cycled away.11
I stopped outside of Sophie’s house and joined her just as she was about to cut the cake. My only concern now was that Daud would not give me away or my parents would not find out where I was. But still, I had a good time.12
An hour later, Daud and I were on the way home. All the way, I pleaded to Daud not to give me away. I promised to give him all the chocolates and candies that I could find. When we reached home, Daud actually pretended that we had been at the park all the time! Can you believe it? The little devil didn’t give me away.13
I know I did wrong by going to the party when I wasn’t supposed to. But hey! Nobody found out and I babysitted Daud too! But still, I promise never to do such a thing again (until found necessary). Things just might have gone wrong…14
What do you think?
