In the beginning, I loved the travel. Short stays in different hotels, the changing scenery, the people. I do my job, interact as needed. But at heart I am a loner. Most nights choosing room service; eating while I work. 2
But there are those nights when loneliness sets in. The times I fight cabin fever. Those nights I try to find a quiet restaurant. Opt for a corner table, and dim light. I wasn’t so lucky that night. At least, not at first. 3
I walked several blocks, only coming across the trendy bars of downtown anywhere that cater to the restlessness of youth. Full of too much light; too much noise. I passed several places, until the crowds thinned and the streets darkened. I hesitated to go much further, not out fear, more out of logic. No people...no food.. Almost turning back, when a slight light caught my attention. 4
It turned out to be a quaint little Italian place: Alphonso's. You know the kind, red and white checkered table cloths, round bottomed Chianti bottles drizzled in multi-colored wax. And that marvelous smell of5
garlic bread and baking pasta. 6

I believe we have an Alphonsos in the local mall here tho I can't quite remember. I do know it has checkered tableclothes and serves among other things pizza...
Me thinkest she will find her fate swimming there amongst the
swirls of tomato sauce and if not she' have a good meal anyway.
I actually had pizza tonight for supper...mmm...mmm...good

Definitely a destination restaurant with a cult following. I think every city has those little hole in the wall places that you need to be "in the loop" to know about, or as you did stumble on to them. Interesting write here Maddie
