Chapter 12


“Time to get up”, I told myself.
I got up out of bed stiffly because it had been a long cold restless night. Slowly but surely, as always, I got ready to go to school and face the day. Atleast it was the last day of school.It was cool today so I dressed in my light long sleeve red shirt and I put on my heave coat just in case it was colder than I thought it was.
“Alyssa it’s time to go to school!”
That was my mom she always yells at me to hurry up even when I had thirty minites til school started. Besides the school was only one block away.
“Coming!”
As always I came down the stairs loudly but my mom yells at me again to hurry up.
“I’m right hear mom, god, why do you always have to yell at me even when I'm right here!”
“Don’t you use that tone with me young lady” she said.
I ran out of the house with my breakfast in hand to go to schoolmumbling something un intelligible.
“Why do I live with her if she treats me like this all the time”?
Sigh.
“Well, at least it’s the last day of school, but that means more time with my mom over the summer”, I says in disgust.
“Maybe I’ll find a job some where”, I say with excitment.3

Chapter 28


On the way to school I meet up with Tyson, Jacob, Austin, and Chris.These are the guys I see every morning who wait for me at the corner of the rather large meadow behind our house. They have always teased me ever since I moved here to Leonard, It has always bugged me but I really can't do anything about it. There isn’t much I can really do because this is the way I have to go in order to get to school. As I approched I was thinking of what to say and do.
“Not to today please I’m tired of ya’ll teasing me, please don’t”. As I was saying this I noticed they had some long and shiny behind there backs.
“Hey Alexandra how are you doing to day, are you feeling ok", htey asked with sarcasm heavly in there vouices.
“Get away from me, leave me alone”, I said in the most aggressive voice I could make.
“Ow, scary. Well, since it's the last day of school we thought we would try something diffrent today.”
They pulled out the long shiny things from behind there backs, that was when I realized what they where. Metal Baseball Bats! The first thing that crossed my mined was to get the heck out of there so I ran towards the meadow in search for a good place to hide then I saw a forest at the end of the meadow.I ran as fast as I could to get there before they did so that I could hide. When I got there I hid behind a rather large tree surrounded by bushes and sat behind the tree. When I thought they wouldn’t be able to see me I turned towards the forest and noticed something moving in the forest that was rather large and black.
“Who are you”, the strange thing said.
“My name is Alyssa”, I said stuttering in a frightened tone.
Then the thing started towards me but stoped because he noticed the guys coming towards the forest with baseball bats in there hands. He became furious because he realized why they where here and what they were going to do me.
“Where are you Alexandra” the Tyson asked the bigger one of them.
The shadow thing noticed the fright in my eyes and he new that he had to do something.
“Leave Alyssa alone you have no reason to harm her.”
“AAHH it’s a monster RUN”!
When they said that he ran after them to make sure they wouldn’t be coming back. When he new they wouldn’t come back he came back to me.
“That will teach them to mess with you, huh?”
“Ya, thank you for getting rid of them for me.”
“Your welcome, why were they going to beat you”?
“Well every day before school they always tease me for no reason and today they just got tired of it so they took it up a notch. I don’t really mind the teasing because they really don’t know how to tease.”
“Ya, it’s not right that they should do that to you.”
“No, it’s not really nice”.
I finally realized that he stood at least six feet tall from his head to his hooves. He was really the most amazing thing that I had ever seen in my entire life.
“You’re a centaur aren’t you?”
“Yes I am.”
“That’s really cool, what’s your name?”
“Shadow.”
“The name really suits you.”
“Than you.”9

Chapter 314


“So, where are you from?” asked Shadow
“I’m from Leonard,” I said.
“I live in the forest for right now I really live in Alka Land up in the north.”
“Wow, that’s far away, how did you get way out here.”
“Well, it’s a long story.”
“I’m listening I’ve got all day to listen to your story.”
As Shadow told me his story I felt like I had known him forever but I haven’t. As he was getting towards the end of his great adventure from Alka Land the sun was already beginning to set.
“Well, I probably should be getting back to my house.”
“Well, if you want to you can come tomorrow.”
“Ok, it sounds like a plan.”
“Ok, see you later.”
“Bye.”
As I was walking home I felt that there was a reason why God had me hear.

As tomorrow came around I got up out of bed and got dressed to see Shadow. I walked down the stairs to the kitchen to get something to eat before I left and my mom asked me what I was going to do today.
“I’m going to the meadow that’s behind our……….”
I stopped abruptly because I thought maybe I shouldn’t tell her about today because she might follow.
“Well, what are you doing today?”
“Nothing, bye!”
I got out of there as fast as I could so that she wouldn’t be able to follow me. I ran all the way to the edge of the forest and I didn’t see Shadow.
“Shadow where are you?”
As I turned around to look behind me I found myself in the path of the charging Shadow.
“SHADOW”, I screamed.
When he got at least five feet from me he leapt into me and then jumped out of me like he was doing something to me.
“What where you trying to do Shadow, where you trying to kill me or what I mea you jumped inside of me!?”
“No I wasn’t trying to do that, I was doing that.”
He was pointing towards my legs and well, at least they used to be legs, but they turned into horse legs. To be more precise my whole lower half was a horse. “Owe my god, I’m a centaur how did you do this?”
“Well I used magic.”
“You used magic, that’s so awesome!”
After said that I ran around testing my new body, I felt like I was free as free could ever be Then Shadow asked if I wanted to have a race with him so I could see how fast we could really go. We were having so much fun till we came to towards the edge of the meadow near my home. There where at least twenty or so police men with guns and my mom was there to. Then I looked down and realized I wasn’t a centaur any more I turned back into my human form. 16

Chapter 419


“Alyssa! Get away from that monster!” said my mom with terror in hear voice.
“No, mom I won’t.”
As I said that I heard sirens behind us and I knew we wouldn’t be able to get out of there because they were surrounding us.
“Shadow, you have to get out of here before they get you.”
As I said that I saw Shadow go down with an electric net atop of him. I hurried over to Shadow to get it off of him, but I couldn’t because it was shocking me too.
“Alyssa! Stop before you hurt yourself!”
“I have to help you get out Shadow!”
“No, Alyssa! Don’t!”
As I was trying to get the net off of him my mom comes and grabs me and drags me away from Shadow.
“SHADOW, NO!”
“ALYSSA!”
As I was being dragged away, the officers picked up a tranquilizer gun to nock Shadow out and put him in an armored truck that was near by. I was yelling, kicking, and squirming, and crying, trying to get out of my mom’s grasp, but I couldn’t. The crying and squirming weren’t really doing me any good. The armored truck was finally driving away with Shadow in it. At last, I got of my moms grasp and started running after Shadow but I couldn’t get to him because the truck was picking up speed. I fell down a ways from where my mom was, I was just sitting there balling. My mom came over saying…
“I’m sorry, but that thing could have hurt you.”
“NO HE WOULDN”T HE ISN”T LIKE THAT! HE WOULDN’T HURT ME HE”S MY BEST FREIND!”
“YOU’RE TAKING AWAY THE ONLY FRIEND I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE” I screamed at my mom. At one moment I was human next thing you now I magically turned back into a centaur. My mom was astonished at what she was seeing and the last of the officers where going to find there guns so I told my mom a last good bye and got out of there.20

Chapter 526

I followed the faint tire trail that was left in the ground, they were faint but I could see them. After searching for about two hours I finally reached what I thought was where Shadow was being held. When I got closer I noticed the similar armored truck that took Shadow away, so there for, I new I was at the right place. When I got inside I saw a guard standing in front of a rather large metal looking door.
“Hey you, over there, I heard there was a centaur invasion!”
“Hey you stop! I needed back up!”
I flew fists and kicks at the guards that where coming around the corner of the building and in a few seconds the all the guards were down.
“Shadow, SHADOW!”
“Alyssa is that you?”
“Ya, now how do I get you out of hear?”
“There are some keys over there on that wall.”
“Ok, got them.”
When I got Shadow out we heard sirens going off and we heared more guards coming down the hall towards use.So, we started galloping as fast as we could towards the exit. When we got out of the building we kept galloping to make sure they would reached a good distance from the building and out of sight
. “Alyssa, how did you find me? And wow you turned back into a centaur!”
"I followed the tire tracks that were left in the ground and they led me here. Now for how I turned back into a centaur I guess it was because they took you away from me and I didn’t like that at all I wanted you to stay with me and……………….”
Shadow stopped what I was saying by pressing his warm lips to mine and kissed me.
Shadow slowly lifted hi lips from mine and asked, “Would you like to come live with me?”
“Yes, yes I would.”
“Good.”
“Shadow, I love you.”
“I love you too.”27

Chapter 630


We finally got to Alka Land and what I saw amazed me. There was a whole heard of centaurs that where down in this deep valley surrounded by waterfalls. It was the most beautiful sight you could ever see. Shadow ran down to see his family and motioned for me to go along with him. When we got down there, all the centaurs ran over to Shadow asking were he has been all this time and they were asking about where I came from and if I was his girlfriend. After we where done talking to them Shadow he greeted me to his mom and I thought his mom was very kind. We were having a lot of fun telling them about our adventures and how we came to now eachother. Then we heared what sounded like someone coming behind use, then we hear someone say......
“Run every body!”
“What’s going on who that?”, Shadow said.
“Shadow it’s my mom, she must’ve found us, we have to go come on!”
As we turned to run bad happened. A loud booming niose screeched thruogh the air with blood in the sky!
“ALYSSA!” Shadow yelled as he turned around.
I fell down with blood gushing from my chest gasping for air.
“You shot her! How could you?”
“I wasn’t meaning to aim at her!” My mom said. Shadow ran at mom to chase her away far away and then came back to sit by me to tend to my wound. “Alyssa stay with me you can’t leave me, not now.”
“Shadow promise me one thing, you will always love me.”
“I will Alyssa, I will.”
As Shadow sat there I start to lose my usual gleam in my eyes and they turns into a pair of dark cold non existing eyes and then I disapper forever.31

Chapter 7 35


“Why does she have to die,” Shadow yells.
“I would have rather have taken her place so she would live on and have a peaceful life.”
As Shadow got up to go bury me I start to glow and rise up off of the ground and then I disappeared into the sky never to be seen again.
