The years have gone by
My life floats away
Loneliness engulfs
At the end of each day.1
Loved all my life
Family, joy and laughter
But it’s not enough
I want the happily ever after.2
I’ve always dreamed
Faceless strength holding tight
I’ve looked so hard to see
His face within the light.3
Now the face is clear
The hands touch with care
The lips caress my skin
Loving hands tug my hair.4
Distance separates us
Time keeps us waiting
I see other men around
But I’m not interested in dating.5
Dreams of our future
We write with love together.
Dreams of a home, family
And our own happily ever after.6
The days count down
But there are many to go
Questions are raised
We go with the flow.7
Few friends know of us
But few do we trust
Our love is simple
Not a show full of lust8
I feel his pulse pounding
Even so far apart
Thoughts of his loving ways
Blood races through my heart9
Fairy tale loves never start easily
A struggle in life is the beginning
A surprise meeting in the middle
An ending love is the final winning.10
That’s what I want
I have my beginning encounter
We’re getting to know each other
Working towards our happily ever after.

This was wonderful. Thank you so much for entering. My favorite stanza was number 3. It's intense. In stanza 6, your rhyming is off and it detracts from the flow of the poem. Besides that, you have done an excellent job here and I'm sorry it took forever for me to finally comment.

Wow, I just love those lines so much ^_^ they reflect my own life, and the loneliness that haunts me from time to time. Good job with this.
