Short Story,by a short girl

BORN JUNE 17TH 19531

a baby girl 6lb.6oz.at Josephine3

general hospital in grants pass Or.4

they named me Doris,and I don't recall5

much about life until I was about five,6

we lived behind the Murphy creek saw mill.7

well one day my older brother was telling8

me that if I put on one of mom's girly things9

(pad) that I could pee my pants and not get wet10

well I gave it a try,he was wrong,pee was 11

running all down my legs,cant recall if this12

was before or after my brother got in to the 13

batch of home made beer,wow did that make him14

mean,he was busting out the windows in the garage15

mom really had her hands full that day,it wasn't16

to long until he was sleeping like a baby.17

I also have two younger brothers and a sister,well18

brother number two he had a fit kicking and screaming19

for what seemed like hours after dad left for work20

and mom she would always put up with it,I thought he21

was a spoiled brat,he even got to go to the store and22

pick out a special cup for giving up his bottle(the big baby)23

brother three and my only sister was still in diapers and24

on the bottle.25

you know I think this was the same year me and my older26

brother gave dad a tank of gas out of the dirty diaper tub27

we got a lot of thanks for that.28

years passed and we thought we were all grow up as most29

teens seem to think at this age.30

mom and dad met Mike and Kate,they had lots of kids to31

play with,we all went fishing and would come home with32

lots of fish for a fish fry.life was fun fun fun.me and33

two of Mike and Kati's girls we talked about what else34

boys,I was in love with the boy next door to me.him and35

I went to the drive in movies to the skating rink or just36

went to pipers hamburger stand.most days it was floating37

down the rivers here in the rouge valley.I got married way38

to young I was fourteen to the boy next door.two of my 39

brothers got married young also,they was eighteen to Mike40

and Kati's girls.so now my friends are my sister in laws.41

I don't think I have any friends,about the whole town is42

family,I tell my kids to be real sure that the one you 43

are dating is not family.44

life here in the rouge valley is slow pace just the way 45

I like it,all my brothers and most of my children still46

live here.this is home.good clean fun lots of fresh air47

and lots of rivers and trees.home is where your heart is48

and my heart is right here.I might add to this later on49

but for now I am done.Well I'm back to blab just a bit more.50

my daugther Dusty is going to have a baby in about four more51

months,she went to the Dr yesterday and he told her she is52

going to have a girl,said he is 75 to 80 per cent sure of it.53

well he better be right,I am counting on it.girls are sweet54

and there are lots of cute frilly things for them,I would55

love it the same if it was a boy.we will see in a short while.56

Going back in time one of the things I can remember about my57

brother number two is he had a way with money that the rest of58

us kids didn't.he could save his until he had enough to by59

what ever it was he wanted,the rest of us we would spend it60

as fast as we got it,he is a inventor also,he has come up with61

lots of things,that if only he could get it to market he would62

be a rich man,and he is the hunter and fisherman of the family63

not that the rest of us don't like to do the same things,he64

is the kind that lives for it.he is still spoiled.he has the65

best of the big boy toys,but then he has worked hard all his66

life and I'm glad he has the toys he wants.now a little about67

brother number three,he was real sick when he was about six68

and had to have a tuter come to the house for his schooling,69

and yes the rest of us thought he was the BIG BABY.but looking70

back on it now he got left out of a lot fun kid things that71

the rest of us got to do,like going to the fair and going out72

side to play.he was stuck inside and in bed,for about a year.73

and from not getting to do anything he put on lots of weight,74

I guess life for him was never much fun.but now he seems to be75

happy in his life,or I hope he is.My sister she lives in the76

same state as the rest of us do but a few hundred miles north,77

she lives in a group home for the mentally challenged,I have not78

seen her for about two years now but I do know she is happy,her79

life is better up there then if one of us was trying to keep her,80

she has a job,she likes to go to the hot tubs and she likes to81

listen to Elvis on her boom box.I know she is happy.well that kind82

of tells a little about my siblings,my butt is kind of hurting so I 83

have got to go walk it off.later I will add more,,84
