Eternally Yours CH. 2

If I could possibly describe to you the feeling of betrayal I had set upon myself… I said yes to him? Was I out of my mind? Eli must’ve seen the trouble torrent behind my mudded green eyes. “Angelique, you worry me…” He said honestly. “Haven’t I offered you enough?” I scoffed. “Enough? If you mean thrusting me into this eternal hell then yes,” Eli rose from the coffin, disgust written all over his face. “I can't believe I let my guard down to a woman…” He spat acidly. “Excuse me?” I countered; my gaze as fierce as his… “You are not worthy to be my queen…” He began to laugh in the middle of his explanation. “Fine,” I agreed. Ripping off his ring and throwing it in his face, rising vehemently and stepping out of the coffin, my bare feet freezing as I shoved them into my boots. 3

“And where do you think you’re going?” He queried. I just looked at him, wondering just how much naïveté he assumed I possessed. I gripped my blade and walked out, my hair blowing off my shoulders as I thrust open the door that led out into the gardens. My Isis lade began to ring with the anger I issued to it through my hands… A ball of light forming at the tip… “Angelique!” He cried not realizing I had actually begun to trek out and was way past the gardens working my way into the forest, the night slowly blossoming into something deeper… Something powerful, that reassured me… I said not a word as my cloak hung askew on my shoulders… “We are living in the past,” I called to him… “I am yours no longer…” I didn’t wait for a reply, and walked out until I met with a road, cars streaking by… In all my days I had never seen such a strange innovation… One Hyundai Tiburon, silver with tinted windows and blue ground effects pulled to a stop, the passenger window rolled down, and a young man with blue and silver goggles holding his hair back from his face, his hair was long, and snowy white, even though he wasn’t Elvin like I had guessed by any means… A spike collar gleamed ‘round his neck, a silver spike labret in the middle of his bottom lip, he had on a wife beater with the words 'Corrupt' across the front, with a fishnet shirt beneath… His blue eyes shined even in the lack of light that there was… “Get in, you look freezing…” He said opening the door, I got in and sat in the strange 'car' and gingerly closed the door… “Th' name's Darien,” Suddenly a scent so powerful consumed me my eyes began to water… The scent of the Neteru… “Are you a— “Yeah,” He nodded, “Screwed up how it happened but anyway I'm the second councilmen on the 'Top Side' we’ve been searching for you for months…” He admitted. “But men aren’t Neterus… They can't be…” “Hey,” he said as the car began its way down the road, he pulled over casually and buckled me in. “It was bound to happen sooner or later I assure you Angelique.” “Hmm, I guess you're right, with as fucked up as the covenant has become over the years.” “You're new to all of this aren't you?” He queried as I was amazed at the music that seemed to be coming from nowhere. “Yeah,” I said marveling at the glowing clock and various instruments picking up what they were thanks to my vampiric side… “No offense Angel, can I call you Angel?” I nodded. “But you have a pretty screwed up record here… Neteru turned Vamp? How and the hell is that possible…?” “Fluctuations, my boyfriend bit me one too many times and…” “Ah, the bastard, not to worry, we can fix it.” “What?” I asked aghast. “You aren’t going to thrust me in holy water are you?” They had tried once, before I went out on my own, and it burnt me something terrible. “Absolutely not,” He assured me. “The occult rituals were thrown out years ago. Its completely different for fluctuating Neterus. Trust me.” 4

We pulled up to a place titled the “Holiday Inn”. “Come on.” Darien said turning off the ignition, closing his door and coming around to open mine. “Neteru council meets in a little bit more of a different fashion then Vampires do.” “Of course,” I agreed. “But the first thing we need to do is get you some more 'up to date' clothes… Those are a little old fashioned for the now…” “So I see…” I said eyeing his solid figure, which was muscular, to just the right amount, and not too over the top… Nice… I linked my arm with his and we entered the hotel, which was rather decadent with its marble floors and fountains… “The covenant has added to the facility for privacy and all that jazz, but its better then what we used to have, to say the least… Nice blade by the way… They don’t even make those anymore…” He said seeing the French script embedded in the hilt with emeralds and silver. “A little bit risky though don’t you think?” “Absolutely…” I agreed. “I'm just not used to being a Vampire really, and I don’t even feel like one considering how I keep changing all the time.” “Yeah, it must be tough…” We stopped as Darien chatted with the guard. “Yes, uh-huh, her name is Angelique… I’d prefer she would stay with me for the night…” I listened, not minding he spoke for me… I sort of liked it… Eli had done it too, but then again, he had always seemed so cold… 5

Darien took me up to the room and showed me to my bed, or should I say our bed… There was only one… Some questions drifted through my mind as Darien went into the restroom for a moment, and came out shirtless; which practically took my breath away… “Ahem,” He cleared his throat calling my attention from his chest and abdomen. I hadn’t noticed the sheaf of papers in his hand either… “We need to get this crap squared away…” He said handing me just two of the sheaf. “You’re my protector?” I asked puzzled, reading the information. “You've got to have one… I mean the situation you're in…” “You're treating me like I'm royalty, I mean, I'm not… Am I?” 6

“God Angelique, you didn’t know?” 7

“No,” I replied, looking at him…8

“You're the queen of the Neterus…” 9
