Nothing More Than A Breath Of Affection

The room.... was left so bare and cold... no life no breath... no love...1

It was the day after he had left her... left his true love and his life. He felt it was the right thing to do, to just walk away without even a goodbye; obviously she didn’t think so, not when she thought that their love would pull them through.2

So many wasted tears, so many lasting memories. She couldn’t come to understand that she was now left with nothing.... nothing but her thoughts and regrets... nothing but this pain. How could he do this after all they had been through all those endless days of just wanting to hold each other close and to revive their everlasting love. It’s over... why she had been abandoned with nothing but a ‘sorry’ for a beg of forgiveness. Even when she knew that she was the sorry one. Those frozen silences and the ever torturing glances of affection from across a crowded corridor...all for nothing.3

Days seem to be just drifting away for her, not sure how she’s suppose to find her way. She wishes everyday that she could find some way to bring him back .... but only in her dreams can she ever see his face.... only in her mind will she ever remember the times of passion.4

All this pain that engulfs her now is all that she suffers. Memories of affection and desires of love.... she once had. Oh, why did she have to be so dumb... why did she not stop him from leaving.... why was she too late?...5

As the hours went on and the agony grew she came to understand just why he had to go. ‘Maybe’, she thought to herself, maybe, it was that he had such a deep love for her that there was no way he could carry on... passing her by and not being able to touch her... or just to tell her it will be okay. Nothing was possible anymore. A love cannot last if one cannot see the other everyday... can it?6

Not much of a story; I know!... Maybe one day I will add a begining or an ending to it or something.

This is good, this is really good. I love how you've split it up & I can totally relate to this. The last line "A love cannot last if one cannot see the other everyday... can it?" I especially love as this is so true, although I'd like to think it isn't. Thanks for sticking to the rules of the contest & thanks for entering.

This was a good poem, but the idea wasn't origninal. Don't get me wrong I thought this was a good story, but it's not one I'd normally want to read. The emotion was good and there was lots of it, but this was another "I love you a whole lot and you left me alone and depressed" kinda love story. You did good on this and I did like reading this. Well, that's only MY opnion so do what you want with this. Your story doesn't suck if that's what you are thinking I mean because it doesn't suck. Anyway, don't listen to my ramblings...
