Love letters1
I just wanted to be alone.
If I couldn't have you
well then I didn't want anyone.2
I moved away so you could be happy.
Living the life
that you thought you wanted.3
I walked the beaches alone.
looking out among the romantic
moonlit nights
wishing that I could be with you.4
I would stroll the board walks
all lit up
and people just laughing,
holding hands,
and so in love
and I would think of you.5
I would walk the halls
going to my job
and stop
pausing to remember
that once I loved coming to work
for you were just down the hall from me.6
Yesterday, the mail man came
handed me a bundle of letters.
They looked like they had been
through hell and back.
Confused I looked at the name of the sender
and saw your name.7
My heart began beating wildly
hope flaring
tears of joy flowing.8
As I quickly began reading the first letter
I saw that you had written it to me
telling me of your life
each and every day without me.9
As I continued to read
I saw a change overcome you.
A realization.10
Still, you were determined.
You would lived the life you had made
without me.11
Though in the letters
I saw how much you missed me.12
How much you wanted to share
things with me.
The birth of your children. A lovely
blonde haired daughter
and a black haired son.13
The day you danced your first dance
and fell twisting your ankle
and feeling all embarrassed.14
The day that you watched your daughter
graduate college
becoming a nurse.15
The day that you cried
all night long
because you felt so alone.
That morning you buried
the man you choose over me.16
Then one day
the letters just stopped.17
The last was just a note
scribbled in unfamiliar handwritting
simply stating
"mom died two weeks ago
I found these and thought you might
want to read them."18
The tears came harder
because with this note
came the knowledge that what we had
we would never ever have again.19

I don't normally get choked up, but the ending of this one swelled up in my throat a little. Don't know why. It was great, though. Rather imaginative, and good story to follow through. I loved the ending. Really got the mental cogs turning.
It's a shame how often this kind of thing happens. Choosing another over the one you actually felt for.

:'D
This story was so sad and so happy at the same time. The ending was completley unexpected, which gave the story a good twist. I really liked it!
Good Luck in my Contest!!:]
