A prayer for the abused1
Dear Lord above,
my Savior
I ask you now to listen to me
for I have a story to share.2
For a long time
I was sad,
confused,
and yes even angry.3
For a long time
I trusted no one
not even you my Lord.4
No one would listen
no one seemed to care
and my hope
was only thread bare.5
Why is it
that adults do what they do?6
Why is it
that they choose to abuse?7
Abuse
it only leads to pain,
suffering,
and questions
with answers never given.8
Like why me?
What did I do to deserve this?9
Hiding out in fear
for years,
weeks,
or even days at a time
to avoid a beating,
the smell of alchol,
and the tears and pleading
that always seemed to come.10
No one ever saw my pain
nor heard my sobbing
or saw the life of nightmares that I
had to live in.11
I couldn't talk,
dared not speak
for fear of re-opening old wounds
and making my life even worse.12
Now though,
my Lord above
I ask you to listen to my prayers.
A prayer to forgive
all those who abuse
(for I know I will never be able to)
even though they know
what they have done deserves no excuses.13
Also, my Lord
I wish to pray
for all those who have suffered
at their abusers hands
for they my Lord
are truly
in a world
where no one understands
what it is like
to be the abused one.14
Amen15

Well, that was rather beautiful. At the beginning, I saw a prayer, and I generally immediately assume something cliché and/or blasphemous. But, it turned into something a little more selfless toward the end. People need to think like that more, be a bit wiser with their words.
Abuse is never pretty, and it's seen much too often. You've captured the soul of an abusee who's coming to terms with their memories and wisening up as they heal perfectly.
The only problem I had was with the flow and structure. But, when you're throwing your emotions out into words, you don't necessarily need to follow the rules.

wow
*sniffle* Really emotional and deep. The words really got to me, and made me think about real-life and how these things do happen.
A very sad reality to know of. Very beautiful choice of words, if not sorrowful, and you captured the emotions and feelings very well. Greta job! Very sad...

Wow, this is really well written. Made my eyes watery even. I am terribly against child and animal abuse. Totally against it. Great job!

Excellent
You have captured the feelings of a child dealing with aftermath. Those memories stay long after the events are over with.
Excellent job!

That was amazingg. I didn't even realize that I was tearing until I was done. Some of your words had such strong feeling, it was just captivating.
Good Luck in my Contest!!
