fearful eyes

I remember staring into his bright blue eyes
and he in turn stared into mine.
I wanted to lower my gaze
to look away
but I forced myself to look his way.
I'm scared he'll figure me out
by looking into my eyes
but still I force myself to meet his gaze.
what he is saying scares me
I wonder if he can see it in my eyes?
I try to wipe all fear from my face
and to understand him more
by looking back into his bright blue eyes
finally he drops his gaze
to his scribbled notes below
I too drop mine, wondering how much he knows
I look back up into his bright blue eyes
only to find staring back into mine.
