Forever yours: part 18

“Victor Fitzhugh.” Someone was calling him and flashing a light in his eyes.1

Victor tried coming out of the blackness that surrounded him. He felt something stuffed in his throat. 2

“Good that you are back with us Victor.” Someone told him as he tried opening his eyes and closed it from the blinding light.3

Blearily he opened his eyes to finally focus on doctors wearing scrubs surrounding him. After staring at them for a while he remembered what had happened to him. He felt weak and already the effort of keeping his eyes open was exhausting him, despite his rage.4

“I hope you remain with us until we make things clear here.” Said his new doctor. “We have no interest in you per se Victor, it is Tyler that we are pursuing. We know he’d been here to see you and you have lied to us about the baby. Whether you approve or not we have shut down the vaccine production in your company and confiscated the vaccine prototypes. You do understand what this means?”5

Victor’s eyes looked at them with outrage. They had put a tube down his throat that he couldn’t shout at them. 6

“Don’t worry. It’s just an Endotracheal tube we had to insert after your cardiac arrest. All we want from you is to connect to Tyler.” The lady who had earlier told them he was lying said in English.7

“What Cardiac arrest? I never had a cardiac arrest when that jerk gave me a shock. You are trying to kill me”, he though angrily.8

“We apologize. As I told you before we have no intention of harming you. We just need your cooperation connecting with Tyler.” The lady said calmly.9

Connect how? Victor thought in confusion and the woman looked at him answering “He has a mental connection with you. We have been monitoring you for a while now, since you lost consciousness two days ago. Your EEG at the time has been showing unusual electrical activity in the brain. We did a scan and we found out that the activity in your temporal lobe matched that of our records of Tyler Demyan’s brain activity scans, at the time you were unconscious. I picked up the feeling that he wanted to talk to you. But somehow because it was just one sided we couldn’t trace Tyler. We had to wake you up. You need to connect with him. You know what it takes to connect to him. So do it.”10

Victor looked at them as if they were crazy. I can’t talk to him you morons, he thought. The woman answered “Don’t worry, you are just placing the call. I’ll be the one answering the phone.”11

Who the hell are you? Victor thought, looking at her. 12

“I am the one who trained Tyler on his special skills as you call it. Every baby, whether you believe it or not, has Extrasensory Perception abilities when they are in their mother’s womb. Tyler’s last stages in his mother’s womb were very special. We tried stimulating his brain’s temporal lobe as we saw unusual activity in his brain, especially the temporal lobe or god complex since when he was in the womb using what we had learned in child psychology and paediatrics. He could be better. There’s so much scope. So much he could do to help the world. He is the key to all our work.” She said.13

The woman came around to stand beside him as she said seriously “You head a research company. You must understand how important it is for us to understand the potential of a normal human. Scientists have been looking into other species to rid us of what makes us weak. To rid the world of diseases. If the answers to immunity and strength lies in the human DNA itself, there would be no need to carry that type of research. Tyler gives us hope.”14

“You are delusional. The only hope you have for Tyler is to make him your little lab rat.” Victor thought with a scoff. 15

“Lab rat?” The woman asked with a sneer. “Let me tell you Mr. Fitzhugh, our tests have shown that Tyler has something in him that makes him immune to any natural virus or bacteria. It’s the same immunity that gives him healing abilities. If we could somehow understand how that is possible, we’ll have a better future for our children.”16

“So, you are telling me now that Ty cannot die?” Victor asked suspiciously.17

“No he can die. But not from any natural disease caused by something that’s naturally found in air or earth. We have found that his body does not provide an automatic defence against viruses that are made in labs. He could die from any number of causes including natural death from ageing or even a major accident or electricity shock. But, we will ensure that doesn’t happen to him if he is in our hands.”18

“You tested on him. How does his body fight the viruses exactly?” Victor pretended interest in the subject.19

“Well, we were only able to test the variola virus and Mycobacterium Tuberculosis on him. With the small pox, from incubation time till the scabs resolved took exactly 16 days with 10 days incubation time for the virus. His body went through the steps very fast. You know the normal minimum time from incubation to the end for small pox virus is a month. With Tyler, with no medicine at all his body fought through and survived in half the time. As for the tuberculosis bacterium, he had active TB and fought it off in a month without any medicine. With TB he didn’t go through the stages at all. He had phlegm coming out of his lungs from coughing and had fevers and lost a few kilos but it never went beyond a certain limit and at no time was he coughing blood. We tried that again with medicine. This time TB looked like a common cold with him. The most amazing thing of all is that he’s not contagious when he is even carrying a highly infectious virus.” Dr. Leyla explained enthusiastically.20

Victor was sick hearing what she was saying. It made him so mad that they did it with his Ty. “You people are just sick. You have no idea what to do with him because he’s got too many abilities for you to count. No one deserves to go through that kind of pain for anything. Tyler is as human as you and me. He deserves the same respect as a human. He is not your property to test on and I don’t believe any of this healing crap.” Victor thought angrily.21

“Your small mindedness amazes me. Someone like Tyler belongs to the world. Unfortunately for him he is too different from other humans to belong to one person alone. You’ve heard of spiritual healing, Victor? Something called Reiki? Jesus Christ? Long before medicine as we know it now started, it was natural healers with spiritual abilities who started curing people. They had a deeper understanding of earth’s matter that could be used to heal the sick. They had a more innate understanding of balances and spiritual energy in our world. They used these to cure men. You must have heard stories of healers that are strewn all over history despite many men’s attempts to bury the fact that healers existed. Not as glorious kings but normal men. Despite possessing all power, these men possessed a humility that is beyond understanding. That’s why their names don’t exist like kings in the books. But they certainly lived in this world and cured and discovered their share of what we call medicine now.” The woman said with a far away look in her eyes.22

“Dr. Leyla is trying to explain to you how important it is that we have Tyler Demyan in our hands, Victor. We believe he is one of those gifts to humankind that is a one in ten billion send about once every millennium. There must be something in his genes that make him different from us. If we understand what his genetic make up is, we would be making the most remarkable discovery in medicine. Can you imagine a world without disease? Isn’t that what you want to achieve with your company as well? We are working towards the same thing. Isn’t just one man worth sacrificing for the good of the world and its future generations?” Dr. Levitt was asking him.23

“You talk nothing but BS. Is this the talk you use to convince governments to back your research?” Victor thought. The woman whom Victor knew as Dr. Leyla came and pulled out the tube in his throat roughly. 24

Victor coughed and said hoarsely “You are not buying me with that crap. I don’t care even if you think he is Jesus Christ. He is not ever coming back to you if I have any say in it. As far as I can see, you are not getting anywhere in all this testing. Instead of destroying one man supposedly for the benefit of others why don’t you spend your intelligence trying to develop more effective medicine that would produce the same result? Besides, what are you going to do once you discover his complete genetic make up? Create Tyler clones? No. It doesn’t stop there does it? You want Tyler’s innate knowledge of Earth’s matter and medicine to develop weapons too. Let me ask you one thing. Once you create Tyler clones what happens to the rest of the world who are inferior to them? Wouldn’t that end up like some tacky science fiction movie in which the superior race destroys the weaker race?”25

“You talk too much. You don’t understand the grandeur of our plans. People like you never see anything beyond what you can imagine in your narrow minded vision. It’s a pity we have to take extreme measures.” Dr. Levitt said in a bored voice.26

I'm feeling so bad for Victor right now. You must be some serious sci-fi dude with your descriptions and connections to super-natural forces and stuff. You probably already know this, but you could write an awesome novel someday.
