Waiting (1st half)

Kiki liked Jackson. Not only did she like him, but she was in love with him.1

Even though they were only in eighth grade, they knew that their love for each other would last for all eternity.2

Until that day.3

The day of the school shooting.4

It happened like this.5

It was 5th period. Jackson had science, and Kiki was trapped in the always boring physics.7

Then they heard gunshots.8

A voice came over the intercom.9

"There may be a dangerous person in the building. Please lock your classroom doors and stay calm."10

As if that wasn't a dead giveaway that there were children in the building.11

Jackson could hear people screaming, and the sound was quickly followed with more gunshots.12

The voice came onto the intercome once again.13

"We know now that the individual is dangerous please evac..." and then there was an extremely loud shout followed by another shot.14

A creepy voice was suddenly heard by all. 15

"You can run... but you can't hide."16

So, of course, all of the children ran screaming from their classrooms. 17

The school was in complete havoc and chaos.18

Jackson ran from his class room. He had to do something. He saw the entryway ahead of him, but he also saw the murderer. Fredric. He was a big boy sure, and he was always picked on. But he was quiet and kind to his friends. What could have hurt him so bad that he could do this to his fellow classmates. NO one knew at the time, and no one would ever know. That's just the way it was going to be.19

The school building had some security problems. It wasn't the safest school in the sense that there was only ONE exit from it. The windows were sealed shut in order to make the school soundproof. The only way out was through that door.20

Jackson knew that he had to act before anyone else got hurt. He started to run for the door, along with all 600 kids in the school. He saw Fredric point the gun at someone not five feet away from him. He gasped when he saw who it was.21

Kiki.22

"Fredric!" Jackson shouted to try to distract him for a moment. It worked. Fredric turned his head and lowered his weapon. Kiki nodded at him through tears as a thanks for what he had done for her.23

Jackson mouthed for her to go. To escape her possible death. She shook her head no, but He knew that he had to get her out of the school. He grabbed her and shoved her into the stampede that was stil racing for the door. She was swept away, never to be seen by Jackson again.24

"Man, what do you WANT! Can't you see that I was finally about to kill that little..."25

"DON'T YOU DARE say anything bad about Kiki. She's sweet and innocent."26

"That's why she has to die. She was the only one that was EVER nice to me! The only girl that has ever said hello to me in the halls! You. You're ugly. Why does she love you and not me?!"27

Fredric raised the gun and pulled the trigger. Three times. He then raised his pistol and shot himself in the head. Ending his tragic life.28

By the time that Jackson died, everyone had evacuated the building. Except Kiki. She had been worried about Jackson. She knew all along that Fredric was in love with her. She was the only girl who had ever been nice to him. Even she knew that. But when Fredric asked if Kiki would go out with him, she had to deny him. Her heart belonged to Jackson. It was the day before this tragedy. 29

Kiki felt horrible for bringing everyone into this. She believed that she herself had killed the people that Fredric had shot.30

She was thinking about all of this when she heard the last four shots. The second she heard them she felt a pain in her heart. Kiki knew that her precious Jackson was gone for all eternity. But she was wrong.31

She flipped out her cell phone and called 911. She was positive that someone had already called the cops and the police, but she needed to tell them herself.32

"What is your emergency?" A gruff man asked.33

"There has been a shooting at my school. Some are dead, others made it out. Please help me." She said through tears.34

Kiki gave the address of her school, and minutes later she heard silence in the distance. Kiki had been crouched in a locker the whole time. It was in a corridor that was 2 classrooms away from where she had last seen Jackson.35

Her plan to hide had backfired. She was now locked in the locker.36

Yet she found a way to escape. Sure it wasn't on purpose, but it still worked. Kiki's legs gave out from under her, for she was in a squatting position, and she fell with all of her weight against the door. It burst open, and out she tumbled.37

But she wished that she hadn't. 38

Jackson's blood was splattered even this far down the hallway. She saw it and knew now in her mind that he was dead.39

She stood up and turned to face the corpses.40

And fainted.41

Hours later she awoke to find herself lying in a hospital bed.42

Her dad was also in the room talking to a doctor. 43

"She could be traumatized for the rest of her life."44

Kiki heard the doctor say it faintly before she slipped into the world of unconsciousness once again.45
