Reunion

He looked out the plane window, and chuckled to himself. "So this is what it feels like huh?" he said half out loud.1

"What?" the lady next to him asked, removing her ear plugs.2

"Nothing, sorry." Josh said with an apologetic smile. 3

All the fears, gone, all the questions, answered. It was the end of one era, but the beginning of another. More questions
would come, more fears would surface, but for now, right now,
life was good, damn good.4

Josh had searched for five years, for the child he knew was his. Myrna his girlfried at the time, had left without a word. He found out shortly afterwards, she was pregnant. He never understood why she left. After tormenting himself with so many unanswered questions, he decided to leave them behind, and find the child...if there was one.5

Two months ago, he got a break. The detective he had hired, had found the grandmother, and confirmed there was a child, a girl, five years old. 6

Josh had mixed feelings. He wasn't sure if he should just waltz into the child's life, upsetting what may be a happy content existence. But when he called the Grandmother, she was
so happy to hear from him, she had invited him for a visit right away. She was very secretive about where Myrna was, but
Jessie his daughter, was living with her in Florida.7

When Josh had arrived at Myrna's mother's house, he was more
than surprised, waiting on the steps beside Joleen, Myrna's mother was a beautiful little girl, with a teddy bear in her arms, the biggest smile Josh had ever seen, plastered on her face. When he opened the car door, his heart soared at her
first words,
"Daddy, daddy, where have you been? We have been waiting for you to come back!"
Josh was dumbfounded, he looked at Joleen.
"I've told her all about you. I knew you'd find her, eventually." Joleen got a sad smile on her face. "Come,
I have hot coffee and those sugar cookies you used to love."
"Sugar cookies? I haven't had those in years!" Josh said,
not quite knowing how to react to his welcome.
"Come on daddy," Jessie said taking his hand. "I'll show you where to was up."8

Josh took Jessie's hand then bent down and kissed the top of her head, she responded by jumping in his arms, "oh daddy, I love you, I missed you so much."9

The rest of the trip was now a momentary blur of five glorious days with his daughter Disneyland, the beach, quiet evenings reading books. Josh was in heaven. He had finally found her,
his daughter, and soon, very soon, she would be coming to live with him.10

I take it Josh has just overcome his fear of flying and is feeling pretty good about life.
This could grow and grow as he moves on to overcome his next phobia.
I liked this, I liked it a lot.
