"Help is on the way." They had said to me, but help never arrives on time. I heard somewhere that a woman in Buffalo called the police because she was being robbed; by the time they arrived on the scene she was dead, and the criminal had gotten away. I guess we ought to give them more time to react, though sometimes danger is not so impending - sometimes it happens all of the sudden. Like now.
