God, Do You Know Santa?

Dear God, it’s me Amy. I’m okay but I’m kinda sad so my Mom said I should talk to you. It’s my friend from school, Melissa. She lives with her Mom and her brother Adam. I think her Dad is in heaven with you and Jesus. She never talks about him and always gets tears in her eyes when other kids talk about their Dad’s.1

Anyway, her Mom doesn’t have much money and they don’t celebrate birthdays or Christmas like all the other kids in our class. They don’t even get a Christmas tree. Melissa says there’s no Santa cause he never comes to their house. I told her that there was a Santa and that he probably couldn’t find them cause they move a lot.2

I even told her about you and she said she doesn't believe in you either. I told her that you still loved her even if she doesn’t love you back. I told her that is called faith, but she said she doesn’t have that either. I told her that Jesus loves her too just like you do, but she said she didn’t know Jesus. Mom said we could bring her to Sunday school with us if her Mom says it’s all right, so I could introduce her to you.3

She is really nice and tries her best at school so God, I just wanted to ask you or Jesus to please ask Santa to visit Melissa and Adam this Christmas. I thought you would understand cause the wise men brought Jesus presents so I was hoping Santa could bring Melissa and Adam presents.4

I am pretty sure you know Santa and he would listen to you. He probably gives you his naughty and nice lists and I think Melissa and Adam are on the nice one. They live in apartment 210 at Prevette Place. You know, the block just a couple streets from here with the black trim. Could you please ask Santa to stop there this year? Thank you God. Amen.5

Oh and God, I promise to bring Melissa to meet you and Jesus. If she knew how happy you make people I am sure she would get faith too. Amen.6

Aw, this is very sweet. It's amazing how such a young person can have so much faith in their religion, and so many people start to lose their fate later on in life. Sometimes children can be so much wiser than we ever realize. I really enjoyed this and believe this proves that you have amazing skill as a writer.

So I wish the best to you, and have a Merry Christmas!

Thank you very much. I really appreciate your comment. It is true that children have more faith. As adults we experience the negativity of the world around us and it tends to shake our faith sometimes leaving us even hopeless. If we truly could experience the world through the eyes of a child... what a beautiful world it would be. All the best of the season to you.

This is truly a wonderful write!! I really feel the wonder from a child about both santa, God, and Jesus. I also feel the concern she has for her friend and her brother. A wonderfully caring poem. Great write my friend.
