Alex walked through the cemetery, passing multiple graves and sepulchers marked with the names of her victims. She fell to her knees before the ancient grave of her mother, who'd been killed by the ancient people upon finding her asleep. The middle ages had been the demise of many vampires besides her mother. She'd been the lone person to bury her body, seeing as she was the only person who really cared. Her mother's body would never decompose, merely stay in it's deformed position forever.1
The cold cement beneath her exposed legs barely fazed her as she lay the roses onto the ground before the marker. Amazingly, this stone had been preserved through the 500 years that had passed. She stood after kissing the marker and jumped to the roof of the school building across the street. A girl walked down the street with her dog, earphones jammed in her ear like nearly every teenager these days had, singing off key to some poppy song. Alex smiled and leaped down, landing just behind her. She'd have dinner tonight.2
The girl didn't hear anything, even as the heals of her boots made a loud noise. However, the dog heard the noise and began to bark excitedly. The girl turned around and took in the full view of who was standing behind her.3
Alex wasn't exactly the friendliest looking person to run into on the street. She took her style from the exentric goths that walked the streets these days. She merely wore eyeliner, but her skin was pale enough for anyone to believe she wore white make up. She donned a black corseted top which had satanic symbols covering it, which she'd liked in the first place. These had been her symbols since the day of her birth. A black, pleated skirt completed it, with fishnets covering her legs. All in all, she was the type of person you wouldn't like to go up to in a party.4
"Who are you?" the girl questioned as Alex tilted her head to the left. She wondered if her blood tasted as sweet as the scent that came off of her. The natural scent she had, though masked with the artificial aroma of flowers, was sweet. Her black lips formed a smile as she walked forward, causing the girl to move backward. The dog jumped onto Alex's leg, biting down into the hard flesh. She kicked it off, slamming it into a pole. The girl yelped and ran to her dog, glaring at Alex as she kneeled beside the motionless body.5
"Stacy?!" she exclaimed. "Stacy are you okay?" While she was focusing all of her attention on the hopelessly dead puppy, Alex walked behind her. She pulled the homemade knife she'd fashioned out of a stone like the olden days, and placed it beneath the girl's neck. She felt her stiffen in her arms, but her blood pumped faster, too.6
"Stand up," Alex stated in her thick Russian accent. The girl slowly brought her self up and froze, her pulse accelerating. It was almost too much for her to bear. She had to do this now, or her mother would be lost forever. She grabbed ahold of the girl's blond hair and pulled her to the cemetery. The grave was still in the way she had left it not five minutes earlier. She'd placed the flowers there so that her mother would know she hadn't forgotten her.7
"What are you going to do to me?" the girl asked in a frantic squeal. Alex smiled as she forced her to her knees and lowered her head to just above the ground.8
"Stay there," she stated and hog tied the girl at a non-human speed. She frantically dug the grave up and was standing atop the rotting wood. Her mother's face was serene and as perfectly preserved as it had been when she had been taken from Alex all those centuries before. She ripped the rest of the rotted wood away and pulled her mother's body from the grave.9
"Ew. Gross! What are you doing?" the girl screamed. Alex turned around and hissed at her. The girl immediately shut her mouth and stared at her with wide eyes. The body's legs were broken and bent to make the feet beside the face, laying on top of the open chest with the heart removed.10
"You shall live again Mamusia," she said as she fixed the legs into the right place. "I have a health heart for you. You'll live again. I promise." Alex smiled and stood between the body and the frightened girl.11
"What are you going to do to me?" the girl asked, her question answered with laughter and a knife being held out in ALex's left hand.12
"You are going to give my mamusia life," she stated. "It is the least you could do since your ancestors killed her nearly 500 years ago." She walked slowly and steadily toward the girl's frozen body.13
Alex cut through the rope and then the girl's sweatshirt. Her tan chest moved up and down as she frantically breathed. The knife plunged into the girl's ribcage, causing blood to gush out of the wound and the warm liquid to come out of the girl's mouth. Alex smiled as she tore her chest to pieces until finally coming to the nearly unbeating heart. Alex's eyes were ablaze with fiery hunger as she ripped the heart from it's resting place. The girl's eyes glazed over, still showing the fear that had been in her at the moment she'd died.14
After making her way to the motionless body of her mother, she placed the heart inside the empty chest. Alex gingerly placed the skin back into place and let the blood from the limestone knife drip onto her mother's tongue. She watched as it did its magic. The blood began to pump through her mother's body, mending the open wound over the new heart. Her mother's eyes opened and she sat up.15
"Mamusia?" Alex exclaimed as she looked into the woman's eyes. Her head turned to her and smiled, showing the elongated fangs she had loved of her mother since birth. They embraced and Alex helped her mother stand before they walked to the dead girl.16
"It's a shame this could not have been done and have saved the girl for later," her mother stated. "I am quite parched. Perhaps we could find a snack tonight if there is still time before sunrise."17
"It is only midnight mamusia," Alex stated as she wrapped her arm around her newly awakened mother. "We have all the time we need. I know where her family lives. We could have revenge on the entire living line tonight."18
"That would be divine," her mother said as she wrapped an arm around her daughter's waist. The looked like sisters, since the aging process for vampires stopped when they reached 24. "First, we must find some sort of clothing for me to wear over my bosom. I do not believe it would be appropriate for me to walk around topless."19
"Indeed mamusia," Alex stated. "I found you one earlier. I planned this." They jumped onto rooftops and made their way to Alex's apartment before leaving to get revenge on the family that had taken her mother from her for over 500 years.
