I’ve always wondered1
How it would be2
To find a love3
Meant specially for me.4
The years have passed5
And love has hid6
Growing cold and lonely7
Is what I did.8
I met one man9
Who I thought could be10
The right man to love,11
And the man loved me.12
We had a great friend13
My heart leaned his way14
And so my heart split15
Two pieces each frayed.16
I knew it was time17
To tell my first love,18
My Peter Pan in life,19
That I knew a new love.20
Not to replace him21
For He still has my love22
But to be honest23
There is another above.24
This man that started25
As merely a friend26
Has opened my eyes27
Through all he has penned.28
About the world29
He has shown me much30
Through all his words31
And tender rough touch.32
I had always thought33
Gentle described such loves34
But I’ve learned through talks35
There can be love without kid gloves.36
Now there is a distance37
Between our shared heart38
Insecurities abound,39
Fearing the other will part.40
All I know is this41
I have given my heart away,42
To the one and only43
And his I will stay.
