The price of greed (opening) part 2

Rist tipped over the bag and the contents fell out. It was a small gem, it shone very brightly, so bright that if it did have a colour you would not be able to tell what it was. Rist knew what it was, it did not have a colour it was white. Rist stared at it for about a minute and picked it up, it had a sort of magical feel to it as it did not hurt your eyes to look at it. On the ground there was a small note, Rist picked it up, it read:1

\Dear Risty,2

If you are reading this note, i guess i did not make the battle though,3

I am sorry to report that in the middle of the battle i figured out the clue that the old man gave us, and left to find the last gem, i got though the traps and i am sure you have got what i had obtained. This is the soul Hil gem, i think you only have one more to find now, well good luck with that, 4

Rist put the note in his pocket with the soul gem and reached into his partners pockets, retrieving and small, weathered, leather book. Slowly Rist opened the first page and began to read his companion's view of their adventures. 9
