Love Hurts--->Chapter 1

Jazminn Andrews stared blankly out the cafe window, her light brown eyes reflecting the sun and the movements of other people. She absent-mindedly twirled a piece of her shoulder length jet black hair, completely lost in thought.1

"Jazminn?Jazminn?" 2

"Huh?" Jazminn replied, snapping back to reality. For a moment, she had forgotten that she was put with her two best friends; Rayne Richards and Ryu Hirosaki. They had all met at NYU since their freshman year and had been best-friends ever since. Rayne was her roommate and the first time they ever spoke was when they realized that they had both went to the same high school, even went out with the same guy. They found it funny that they had went to the same high school for four years and had never known each other. 3

As for Ryu, their japarican friend, as they called him, had met the girls at a frat party. Shortly after Jazminn had cursed him out for spilling his drink on her and kissing Rayne, the girls quickly became attracted to his humor and playful personality. He and Rayne had went out for two months, but broke up realizing that they were better off has friends.4

They hung together through their freshman and sophmore years, especially for Jazminn who was the glue holding them all together. 5

"Jazminn!" Rayne called out once again, trying to get her friends attention.6

"I said yeah." Jazminn replied, looking at her friend. 7

"I swear you be zoning out on me girl. You good?" Rayne asked, watching Jazminn with concerned dark brown eyes. 8

"Hmmm...you don't miss a thing do you." Jazminn said with a small smile. "I'm fine boo. What were we talking about?" 9

"You." Rayne said, stuffing your mouth with breadsticks. "You're turning twenty-one in a week. You don't have a boyfriend, you don't party, you don't like to hang out-" 10

"So?" Jazminn retorted, cutting her off. "I'm just not very social." 11

"Nope, your just uptight." 12

"I'm not uptight!" Jazminn pouted angrily. "I just rather study than get drunk with a bunch of immature college juniors." 13

"Oh please.You are always studying,always working. Right Ryu?" Rayne asked, turning to Ryu. He ran his fingers through his straight black hair, tucking it behing his ears. His hazel almond shaped eyes met Rayne's as she simply shrugged. 14

"Don't bring me in this." he said, turning to stare out the window. "I don't got no comment." 15

Rayne kissed her teeth. "Your half japanese, half puerto rican ass don't never want to get into anything-"16

"But pussy." Jazminn finished, bursting into laughter. The two girls high-fived each other as Ryu flipped them off. 17

"Anyways Jazzy, my point is this. You need to have a party." Rayne continued, restarting their previous conversation. Jazminn sank deeper in the chair. 18

"Oh boy. Please lets not get into this." 19

"Oh please girl, what do you have time for? Well besides us of course." Rayne said, tossing back her curly brown hair with a flick of her wrist. 20

"Seriously Jazz."Ryu said, finally putting in his two cents into the conversation. "What do you have time for? I mean do you even have time to get laid, much less fuck yourself? I mean come on, even the most boring person gets a little play sometimes." 21

Rayne burst into laughter, "Werd!!" she said between laughs. 22

"Stop it you two!!!!!"Jazminn pouted angrily. "Besides," she continued in a hushed voice, "You all know I'm still a virgin." 23

Ryu shook his head in mock pity, "Almost twenty-one and ain't get none yet. How do you do it?" 24

"Screw you." Jazminn retorted, slapping him on the arm. "I just don't have the time for immature boys." 25

"Oh come on. You've never been in love before, or at least a strong like?" Rayne asked 26

"Like you don't know the answer to that. No, i haven't. My relationships never last long. As soon as I refuse to open my legs, they leave. All I am to them is an item anyways." 27

Ryu watched her as she managed to hide the pain of a broken heart. She was searching for love, he wished he could help her. He wanted to go over and hug her, hold her; try to take the pain away. But instead he remained where he was and held her hand, placing a hand under her chin to raise her face. 28

"Not every guy is like that." He smiled softly. 29

"Yeah," Rayne added, observing her two friends. "I'm pretty sure there's someone out there for you." 30

Jazminn gave a small smile, "That's what they all say." 31

"Well that's why you should have a party. Maybe you can find a guy that will sweep you off your feet." Rayne joked 32

"When that happens, remind me to wake up." Jazminn laughed. Ryu laughed along with the girls, never taking his eyes off of her. She quickly shook off her pain as if she were taking off her clothes. Nevertheless, he saw past her smile and saw the truth behind her eyes....those eyes that always seem to tell a story, and yet he had no idea what it was. 33

He smiled at her, "You should really have a party. Come on! It'll be good for ya." 34

"Yeah, sounds like a nice way to relax." Rayne added 35

"Relax? Have you ever heard of date rape?" 36

Rayne turned to her and folded her arms. "I think you're being paranoid and trying to find every excuse in the book not to have one." Jazminn rolled her eyes an looked at her watch. 37

"Why try to find the excuse when i can just tell you guys the truth. I. Don't. Want. One." Jazminn got up and began to put on her jacket. "Look, its five-thirty.I have a ten page paper to write and an exam to study for. Its time i got going." 38

"Awww....but we were just having a good convo." Ryu whined playfully. 39

"Sorry i don't procrastinate like yall." 40

"Haha very funny." Ryu replied sarcastically. "Go home with your boring ass self." 41

Jazminn giggled, "But you love me though." Blowing him a kiss, she turned to hug Rayne. "Bye, I'll call when I get home." 42

"Yeah ok. Bye babes." Rayne replied sweetly, kissing her friend on the cheek. 43

"Get home safe." Ryu added as Jazminn walked out. She turned and waved, then left, steeping out into the brisk fall air. Once Jazminn left, Rayne and Ryu began planning. 44

"We are SO planning a surprise party for her. She definetly needs a break." 45

"Yeah," Ryu agreed. "Lets make this party unforgettable.Lets get her on her wild side." 46

Rayne laughed, "Don't ever say that again." 47

"What? Wild side is still in." 48

"Just start inviting every one you know. And of course Jazminn's family and friends." 49

"Yeah. I can invite my son Daniel. He been itchin' for a party." 50

"Alright then. What are we waiting for?!" Rayne exclaimed, getting up and putting on her jacket. "We've got a party to plan!"
