Part one: The Beginning1
Once upon a time there lived a happy couple. They had just gotten married and built a house. After they moved in they decided that they wanted to have a family. The women got pregnant twice but both times the baby had died before it was born. But finally two years after the got married they had a beautiful baby girl. The woman got pregnant again this time they had a baby boy. But before the baby boy was born the little family had moved to a little apartment a ways away from where the house was. They had the baby boy and girl and were very happy together. After a while though they decided to move. So they moved to a nice little house in a small quaint village. They children grew very quickly. The girl whose name was Ashley started school and met lots of other kids her age and made friends very fast. Her little brother Josh also started school and made lots of friends. When Ashley was eight and Josh was 7 their mother had another baby boy. He was very tiny and cute and had to stay in the hospital for a little bit longer then they did when they were born. Their little brother’s name was Jason. Ashley and Josh loved Jason very much and always wanted to help their mom take care him. At school Ashley started to get a crush. His name was Brian. He was smart, athletic, in her eyes cute, funny, everything she wanted. It took her a really long time before she finally got the courage to ask him out. When he told her his answer Ashley couldn’t help but jump for joy. He said yes. She had her very first boyfriend. He would save her a swing almost every recess and they would swing, talk, laugh and have fun. But then one day when Brian called he told Ashley that he had an extra ticket to a Flame’s hockey game. Ashley begged and begged and begged her parents to let her go and they finally said yes. Ashley had a wonderful night. The Flames won the game and afterwards they went to Burger King for supper. It wasn’t just Ashley and Brian seeing as they were so young. Brian’s two older brothers and parents were there with them. It was very late when Ashley finally got home. But sadly when Ashley went back to school all of her friends started to call her Brian-lover because they didn’t like him and it turned out that he didn’t like him either. One day at school Brian and one of her best friends Jeffery got in a fight. Brian punched Jeffery and bruised his jaw and all her friends said that she would probably feel bad for Brian but not for Jeffery. They were wrong. Ashley felt bad for both her friend and Brian. She was starting to feel torn between her friends and her boyfriend. She wanted to keep her friend but she was scared that to do that she would need to stop seeing Brian. She wanted to keep Brian but she was scared that to do that she would need to lose her friends. Then one day her parents told her that they would be putting the house up for sale. Ashley was heartbroken she had spent most of her life in that village. She couldn’t leave it. Her friends, school and home were there. She tried to stop them from putting it up but didn’t succeed. They went away to P.E.I for the summer and when they got back the house still hadn’t sold. Ashley was very happy about that. Unfortunately she wasn’t happy for too long. The house sold about two weeks after school started. Ashley was heartbroken. She had to leave everything she had ever known. Her school, her friends, her church, the gas station that she would walk to every Wednesday night with her babysitter Vicki when her mom went out, but most of all she would be leaving what she loved most : her home. 2
Part two: Changes3
The night before they put everything in the vehicles to go up to Ashley’s grandparents house Ashley had had her birthday/going away party. Almost everyone in her class showed up. She was a little disappointed even though it was a great party because Brian didn’t go. His parents wouldn’t let him. Ashley was sad. Very sad. As Ashley, her mother and Jason pulled out of their driveway for the last time Ashley couldn’t help but cry. She never thought that she would be leaving her home there ever. She thought about how much she would miss her friends and school when she finally drifted off to sleep. Half an hour later they pulled into her grandparent’s house. She was disappointed that they wouldn’t have their own house but happy that she would be seeing more of her grandparents. She would start at Coles Island School on Monday so she was nervous. But then she thought things could be worse. At least she knew somebody that would be on her class. Her name was Brittany. Ashley had met Brittany at her grandmother’s church and they had become quite good friends. At least that’s what Ashley thought. The school was very different from her old school. It was very small. She was in a combined class too. Sadly her brother was in her class. But even worse she saw Brittany for what she really was: a brat. A horrible, mean, evil, bossy, brat. At least that was what Brittany was to Ashley. She turned the class against Ashley. Ashley had no friends left plus she and Brittany were getting into lots of fights at school. They even had a shouting match on the soccer field at noon hour once. Even at home things weren’t going well. She had to share a room with both josh AND Jason. It was becoming more then she could handle. The only person that she could turn to was her grandmother. Finally one day almost everything changed. One of the girls at school (Chelsea) became her friend. They hung out at school, talked, and called each other on the phone. Chelsea was always there for Ashley when she needed her most, like right after a fight with Brittany. Chelsea’s friends became Ashley’s friends. Ashley finally started to think that things would get better, but they didn’t. Ashley has always been good in school. Probably top in her class. At her new school it was pretty hard to try and hide her good marks. Brittany and all her friends started calling Ashley the teachers pet because she always got good marks and never got in trouble. Ashley was really starting to hate school. She didn’t want to wake up in the morning, get on the bus, arrive at school, and get good grades for Brittany to put her down. After a while the only person Ashley could talk to left her. One night her aunt, uncle and cousins came up to Ashley’s house for a visit. She had a lot of fun. The lake was frozen so they had a bonfire on the ice and went skating. The morning was one of the worst Ashley had ever had. She woke up to find all her cousins, at her house. She was wondering when they got there and why they were there when her parents came into her room with sad faces. They sat Ashley and josh down on their beds and told them the horrible news. Ashley’s grandmother, the only one she could turn to, had died late the night before. Ashley was heart broken. Her grandmother gone? How could it have happened? After she thought everything might actually get better for her and now this? She ended up missing almost a whole week of school. She went to the funeral a couple of days after to find Brittany there. Ashley felt some weird anger burst inside her at the fact that after bullying Ashley at school everyday to have the nerve to go to her grandmother’s funeral. A couple of weeks later her cousins came back up to her house for Christmas. She had a good time even though her grandmother wasn’t there to decorate the tree. After Christmas break she went back to school dreading it even more. The year past slowly to Ashley’s disgust but the summer break had never looked so beautiful. It was one of the best summers she had ever had. Her parents took her, josh and Jason camping with their cousins; Chelsea came over for a couple of weeks to pick berries with Ashley and Ashley just had a good time swimming in the lake almost everyday. As if the year wanted Ashley’s good time to end the new school year came looming out of the dark mist. Ashley was once again in Brittany’s class. Even though they still hated each other this year was better. They didn’t fight as much and got along when necessary. Christmas was VERY different that year. Ashley didn’t feel the same joy that she did every other year. The holidays had changed forever. After that Christmas everything changed.4
Part three: Branson5
Ashley had made new friends that year after Christmas. Most of them older then her by a year or two but they were the only friends she had. They shared a lot of good times together. But then close to the end of the school year Ashley found out that her parents wanted to move. Ashley was all for the idea but knew that she would miss her few friends and the lake. Her parents looked at houses for a long time while Ashley was beginning to have a better school year. Finally with only a couple weeks left of school her parents found a house that they liked and bought it. The house wasn’t too big or too small. It was perfect. It was in a town called Branson. Her mother had registered her and josh for Branson park school. Ashley was a little sad though even though they had that new house and lived in a wonderful town. Since it was the summer break she couldn’t really make friends. She spent a lot of time riding her bike around getting to know the area when one night she saw a couple of girls playing outside. She stopped her bike and said hi to the older girl who looked more her age. They talked for a little while and became friends. Ashley was happy. Megan her new friend went to Branson Park School too. They went for bike rides every morning then would either go to Ashley’s house or Megan’s house. They had a good summer. Josh of course had to go and change it though. Close to the beginning of the new school year josh decided that he wanted to go in French immersion. Their mother went to go and switch josh to French but couldn’t because the school had no more space for French immersion in grade six. So they went to look at the only other school that had space: Branson Bay Middle School. The school was much bigger then Branson Park and Ashley and josh both liked it a lot. Instead of going in English Ashley decided that she would go in French too. Ashley was very nervous about starting school in a new place with no friends plus it was her first year in French whereas everyone else in her class was one year ahead of her. Ashley had such a great personality though that she made friends very easily. After a while a guy from another class in her grade asked her to go to the dance with her. She didn’t know him that well but she said yes anyways. The dance was 50 and 60’s themed. Ashley didn’t really talk to her date but when the first slow song started to play (she will be loved) they started to dance. Ashley felt so secure in his arms that she never wanted to stop dancing. After the song ended Ashley’s friend Melissa asked him out for her. He said yes. Ashley had such a fun time at the dance that she never ever wanted it to end. Ashley was very happy that she met Jake and that she was going out with him that she even dreamed about the dance that night. She was so happy with Jake. Ashley would write him a note and get her best friend Danielle to give it to him then the next day jake would send her one. Ashley was madly in love with Jake. Her mom would get mad because Ashley would write I love Jake on every single piece of paper she could get. To her jake was the sweetest, funniest, nicest, and hottest, all around best guy she ever met. They even went to every dance together. They talked on msn all the time and would sometimes talk on the phone. Everybody said that they made a great couple. They both loved each other very much. Ashley thought everything was perfect but then everything changed again.6
