Ayana looked around just to make sure he was talking to her. She placed a hand on her chest and looked at him questionably. “You’re asking me, to dance? But I can’t dance, I can’t even pretend to dance, two left feet.” She said as she pointed at her small black heels.1
Ian held his hand out across the table and stood. Ayana’s pink lips parted as she took his hand. they walked slowly, Ayana tripping several times, to the almost abandoned dance floor. The men sit across the room, smoking cigars and talking of women they have disgraced. The women sit on the opposite side of the room, looking dainty, having thoughts of the young waiters serving them festive drinks. The music started, soft and slow. Ian put his arm around her and held her close. Ayana felt akward and took a deep breath, She looked up into his eyes. Almost forgetting everything, but the beautiful color of him, it was a complicated color, almost as if his aura was made of stained glass of blues, greens and reds. She saw a flash of light and realized that she was dancing. Gliding across the floor, She looked down at her feet, only for a moment, being afraid she might fall over. A twirl, and the song changed, a little faster now, more passionate. Ian spun her and let her go, making her fly across the floor her dress flinging in the air. He clapped his hands once and danced towards her, smiling all the while. Ayana was hesitant but she didn't care, this was the best time she had had since she was a young child. she took up the bottom of her skirt and ran at him. Jumping into his arms at the last second. He caught her and spun her around over his head, careful not to drop her.He let her slide down his body untill again they were face to face, closer and closer they inched..Ian wrapped his hands around her waist. She closed her eyes......2
The song ended and Ayana found herself leaning over backwards looking up into a chandelier. She stood back up and heard a strange noise, like a light flutter. She looked about the room; everyone was applauding them, staring, and applauding. Ayana made a quick curtsy and turned her ruby red cheeks to the floor.3
She looked up again and towards the door to find a woman standing there applauding over the rest, even whistling. She sighed when she realized it was Kelly. Ayana looked at Ian and asked him to excuse her she needed to visit the ladies room. He only nodded and told her to meet him back at the table.4
She took off towards the door and found Kelly at the bar, obviously ordering, “… the cheapest thing you got” was the only thing she heard. Ayana tapped her on the shoulder and Kelly spun around smiling and said “Sure you can buy me a drink mist-…. err…well well…look what we have here, I thought we were supposed to meet out front Ayana, who was that guy? I thought you said you couldn’t dance, and why did you leave me hanging? Trading in your best friend for some cute guys huh? Well…fine…no need to say anything.”5
ayana took a step back and looked at kelly questionably. kelly's short blonde bangs were plastered against her face...her face, looked haunted.. eyes dark with mascaerra, her bright red lipstick overran her lips. her brown eyes turned green with contacts. Her pointed nose was that of a witch and kelly thought that it suited her just fine. The bright blue dress that kelly was wearing made Ayana's eyes sting, but what was worse was the matching eyeshadow.6
after this long pause, kelly shrugged her shoulders at Ayana.7
"theres no need to be rude kelly" she said in an aggitated tone. "his name is Ian.. and i still can't dance i don't know how to explain that one. I met him out front.. and since you were OVER an hour late i figure you met some guy and ditched ME... "8
"Then i should come meet this mystery man of yours" she said as she took her drink from the bartender and threw out the olive, which landed in a woman's nest of hair atop her head.9
Ayana really didn't want kelly to meet Ian.. she knew that she would try to draw him in, but she had no other choice. "well where is he?" kelly said pushing her arm to lead her.10
Ayana reluctently lead kelly over to the table and saw that Ian was sitting in the very back corner of the table looking, rather frustrated, at a napkin. she sat quickly beside him. He Looked up and grinned, eyes wide.11
"I thank you for that wonderful dance milady" he said.12
"it is you who should be thanked" she replied. still wondering what was bothering him eariler. 13
Kelly cleared her throat loudly and made a dramatic scene sitting down.14
"oh, Ian, this is my friend kelly... Kelly, this is my...well.. this is Ian." she felt absolutely ridicilous for saying "my" and put her hand on her forehead.15
"Pleased to meet you kelly" ian said shaking her hand polietly. then he slowly ran his finger tips down Ayana's arm as kelly couldn't see. she shivered and dropped her arm... and her purse. as she bent down she heard kelly reply with16
"eh..... Who is THAT!!???" She pointed at a tall blonde man standing not far away.17

*chuckles* the last few lines sound like something I'd expect to have heard at the prom in high school. Amazingly well written and I expect to see more of your brilliant work soon.
