The Only One

Sometimes, she felt like she was all alone. Her friends, her family, and everyone around her treated her like dirt. There was only one person in her life that seemed to care and that was the boy she loved.1

He didn't know about her love for him and probably never will. She was terrified of telling him for she feared she would lose the only thing in her life.2

The boy was a different sort of boy. To her, he was the funniest person alive. He didn't try to be funny. He just was. He was always there to make her smile or crack a joke when she needed a laugh. 3

One of the reasons she never told him, was that he liked another girl. She knew it for a fact, even though he never told her. The girl he liked was a snotty girl. She hated this girl with a passion. Because he liked this girl so much, she decided that she would give up on him.4

It was hard for her, because she had to sit next to him and know that she would never have him. He would never love her back. And this was hard. Very hard.5

Slowly, her world came crashing down. They started to drift apart. She was losing the only thing in her life, because she loved him. This hurt her so much. She could hardly take it.6

In fact, she couldn't take it. One day, in her room, she committed suicide. She took her daddy's shot gun. She figured that no one would miss her. Life didn't matter to her now that she lost the one person who actually cared for her.7

A week after her death, a funeral was held. There wasn't many in attendance, but there was a few. After the cemetary service, there was one boy standing next to the grave site. He stared down at the casket for minutes, trying to hold back tears. The girl in the casket meant so much to him. So much, that he hadn't said anything funny or made a joke since the death.8

He threw a single red rose on the casket down below and let one tear fall into the grave. He whispered three words:  "I love you."9
