I stepped forward nervously, towards the glowing light, when they called my name. I looked around before I took another tentative step towards the fire. 1
"Go on," he encouraged me from the circle of people that had come to watch me accept my fate. "Your time has come. It is now." 2
I nodded and let a nervous grin cross my face. 3
"Well, here I go," I said with an intake of breath before I took a step into the fire.4
