A Blessing

To hold a newborn1

in your hands2

is a joy3

and blessing.4

To know5

that you will continue6

even after your own passing7

through this tiny creature8

is a comfort.9

To feel10

that this tiny being11

needs you12

more than any other being13

has ever needed you before14

can scare you15

more than anything16

ever has before.17

To stand here18

and hold this tiny creature19

and be in awe20

and wonder21

if you are truly worthy22

of what God has given you.23
