Ignorance means lack of understanding. Lack of understanding means lack of realization for that of which one is ignorant of. Lack of realization means obliviousness. Obliviousness (being unaware) means that no matter what happens around you it doesnt affect you or that you dont percieve that it affects you. If you are not affected by whats around you or that you do not realize that you are affected, you remain totally unchange and happy in your own "little bubble"1
Children are ignorant i.e. happy. 2
Ignorance truly is bliss but If you had the choice would you choose to be ignorant? You know that you would be happy without the knowledge you have obtained but would you really want to lose what you know?
Author notes
This piece is tied to something else i did: http://storywrite.com/story/221518 Its really short and wont take you more than 30 seconds to read.

*has read that link*
I prefer to think that children are innocent..
and yes, some ARE ignorant, and remain to be ignorant even as they grow up.
There are a lot of ignorant adults as well, but that is a different matter
Nice little prose though.. the english language has words with so many synonyms... and yet, they don't really mean like each other. Your short piece made me think about all the things I would ponder on as I sit alone in coffee shops, watching the rain fall on people...
Thanks for sharing this!

This poses an extremely interesting question.... I think that most people, given the choice, would not be prepared to surrender the knowledge they have attained over their lifetime in the hope of bliss. For, without knowledge of the bad, how can one revel in the good? A very well written piece!

I have seen too much. The mere knowledge that during every breath I take, someone is being murdered, beaten, robbed, or terrified, somewhere in the world, is too heavy for me. I think there is something to the simpler life, when all we knew was our own village and nation, and foreign places were half-mythical. I don't think the human mind has evolved enough to grasp a truly global community yet.
I long for bliss. -
i thing this was good and i agree with the stuff you said

Sometimes I wish I could be happy in my own "little bubble" but I have seen too much of the world at this point. So I suppose I am happy that I have this knowledge of mine! Nice write.

I read that delightful poem too.

you did present an interesting piece.
Hello Bret. Okay it took me 29 seconds and …to reply
I read fast.
I had no problem following your meaning in this short narrative.
Ignorance can be a wonderful thing; lack of knowledge can protect us from being emotionally hurt. But on the other side of the coin, ignorance can be a dangerous business—it can cause us to suffer physical harm.
So I guess like everything good it can also be bad
. Me, I’ll err on the side of knowledge—let me know and make my own decision.
But you did present an interesting piece.

*doesn't agree with obliviousness means that what happens around you doesn't affect you.*
I think... you are talking about the central human decision. Are we on the side that we want to live with truth, or with ignorance/what we want to believe.
Personally... I have been on both sides of this. Right now, I'm on the decision that... the world is here, and we are here. We can choose to accept the world or we can use the minds we have to not accept it. I've chosen to accept it because... I want to know what this earth is really about. You know, we only have... what? 60-90 years on this thing. It's like... playing video games vs. doing stuff outside. A bit of both obviously, but for me, it makes me a much fuller/complete person to be outside. *nod nod* That probably doesn't make any sense
Who you are is really how you deal with shit. I want to develop myself, you know? so.. if i'm always in my mind, being ignorant, in my bubble, there's only so far I can go. if i use the world, I can go much much farther.
Very very good concept*is about to read the other one*
*poke*

if you are oblivious to something then it doesnt affect you.
I wasnt really speaking of one thing or another, this can be taken in different ways.
thanks for reading and commenting (on both)
