I want just one thing for Christmas this year, but sadly I have a feeling that my heartfelt wish will fall deaf upon Santa Clause's already overwhelmed elven ears.1
My son, Avery, lives with his father. I will not say anything mean about his father because that wouldn't fit in with the Christmas spirit. However, I don't think that Scrooge of a man understands that my family needs unity.2
The tree will be festive and glittering bright, but my poor heart will be empty and hollow. I have already been conveniently informed that I will not hold my firstborn on that day.3
So Santa if you can hear me, this is my only wish. I want to hug my little man and smell his hair. The hair with the distinctive scent of dirt, sweat, and chocolate chip cookies.

I am so sory that you and yors child must be separated at all... let alone during such a time as christmas. I can only hope right along with you that your ex-husband will see that your child needs his mother as well as his father. And let's you at least see him during the holidays. I too hope you get your wish.
