"Hello?" my voice sounded hollow.1
"Jamie!?" the person on the other end gasped.2
"Who is this?"3
"It's Jemma. My God what happened to you?!" why was she so surprised? I mean she was the one who did this to me. She was the one who had thrown my life to the dogs and packed up and left. What was she expecting? Me to be happily married with two kids, a dog, and a good paying job? Not likely.4
"Oh, hi," was my disappointment evident? I sure hope it was. Make her feel like I didn't care who she was anymore. Like I was waiting for someone else to call.5
"I haven't talked to you for awhile, thought I'd check up on you," she sounded sincere but I wasn't buying it. Did she seriously think that I wouldn't remember what she did? Did she think that what she had done didn't affect me. 6
"Oh, well I'm fine. You?" idle chatter. I'd always hated it but now I was hiding behind it. She didn't...couldn't know what it was like to not have her here anymore.7
"I miss you," her voice had tears in it. My head snapped up.8
"What? Sorry I was looking at something and something popped up and what?" I knew I sounded like an idiot stumbling over my words like that but I needed to hear her say those words again...see if she was telling the truth.9
"I said I missed you," her voice was barely a whisper.10
"Do you want to come over?" my own voice matched her volume going soft. Once I said those words I swear I heard something start ripping inside me.11
"Could I? I mean if you're not busy or anything," her words were rushed she really did want to see me.12
"Do you think I'm busy?" I asked. There was silence on the other side.13
"No."14
"Then get over here. I haven't seen you for ages."15
"Coming," and then the line disconnected. I stared at the phone for a whole minute before pressing the off button. What was I going to say? How was I going to act? What was going to happen? I was already stressed and now this to add to it.16
It was 15 minutes later when the doorbell rang.17
I paused a second trying to remember exactly what I was going to say when I saw her standing in the doorway after I opened the door.18
I didn't say anything as the oak door creaked open. She stood there her black hair framing her pale, thin face and peircing gray blue eyes.19
"I'm sorry," her lips parted slightly as she whispered the words. I just stared forgetting everything I'd been trying to remember. I did remember everything else however, every minute we had together, every second we'd ever touched, every slow moment we both wanted to last forever. 20
"Me too," I breathed still staring, it was hard not to.21
"You don't have anything to say sorry for," she argued as I moved to the side to let her in. My hands itched to hold her again.22
"I should have payed attention."23
"You didn't do anything wrong."24
"Neither did you then because your leaving made this meeting all the better." 25

It was awesome! I really enjoyed it. However I think you should have added more information about why they broke up, and the ending was a little abrupt. But it was really good, very well written and a very enjoyable read. Good job! Thanks for entering the contest!
