I first started to write when I was just a kid. When I was ten years old, that is when my writing really began to take over. I use to sit in class and write the entire time. In sixth grade, I actually got in trouble a few times over it. I would be so consumed in what I was writing that I would zone out the entire class room. Oh well, it sure did beat the boredom of being trapped inside of a school room. I never liked school. In all honesty, I hated it. I had my reasons. The actual school work didn’t bother me. It was more the kids and getting up so dang early. I’ve always been a night person. I still am. I work third shift even to this day. 1
I started to write more and more. I wanted to escape my life. I would create these worlds inside of my head and invest everything I had into them just to bring them to life on paper. I was praised by my creative writing teacher, and my English teachers. They complimented me on the creativity of my works. I wrote an incredibly wild story about people turning into animals for a project and scored an A. I have always been passionate about my writing, and am constantly trying to improve. 2
My characters become a part of me. I know to some that may seem odd, but I think most writers understand. I have some characters that I adore, and I could never imagine not writing for. I wouldn’t care if no one even read it. I would write for them even if it was just for me. I love to create new things for them, and see where their life will eventually lead. 3
I also love to push myself and try other genres or stories that I have not yet tinkered in. My favorite genre though is romance. I have always been one who loved to write anything with romance in it. If you read my stories, that fact is obvious. 4
My main reason to write is it’s an escape; an escape from life’s pains, troubles, and the boredom of mundane tasks. Some people use alcohol, some use drugs. I choose to escape in a safer way, through my writing. When I write I can create anything that I want to. There are no boundaries, and no rules. I love to write, and that is one thing that will never change...

As I was reading along, I forgot I was reading a submission on "storywrite." Instead, it seemed like I was reading a personal note, written to me by a close friend. I felt like you were really sharing pieces of yourself with me...telling me what makes you tick. I was completely gripped and never became distracted. Thanks for this little peek into what makes you YOU.

I would do the same thing! I'd write things for my characters, and to drawings of what they looked like! And then in seventh grade we had to invent our own countries, and I did mine after a story I had written! I have tons of notebooks with all my old stuff. Wow, we have this in common! YAY IM NOT THE ONLY ONE! Heeheee! Good luck in the contest! -Liz

Thanks!
Oh my gosh, lol. Oh yes, we certainly have that one in common. I have so many notebooks full of writing that it's unreal. I have stuff from when I was in 6th grade still. That sounds cool inventing your own country. I actually ran into a teacher I had in high school last night at work. She was asking if I still wrote and I was like all the time. I gave her my sw acct name, lol.

*claps*
I understand a lot of what you wrote in here.
Though, the difference between us is that I did not start at 10 - I was already in highschool when I decided to try out writing
I happen to love it, and I love it still. To this day, even random words or people or an emotion, or simply anything at all can get me inspired.
It's also my release, and -like giving birth- from something painful, something "beautiful" comes out
Thanks so much for sharing this, and good luck with your contest entry

Thanks...
I know what you mean, lol. I can be at work and hear someone say something, and end up totally inspired. I love how the mind works that way. Inspiration can come from some odd places at times. Thanks again.

EXCELLENT!
Hello, Selena
You have hit the nail right on the head for most authors. There are a few that write solely for the money, such as advertisers, greeting card writers and they miss out on the creation of a fantastic fantsy world. I love the creating process and really get inside my characters. Sometimes I find my characters tell me what they are going to do. lol. I think authors that write for the escapism, rip out a little piece of their soul for every story and it continues to be a part of the writer forever. Good job on the contest prompt. Well-wriiten with a nice flow. I like the occasional personal entries. Makes this fun to read.
Good luck in the contest,
Sincerely,
Ingrid

I think this is true of a lot of writers. They use it to escape the troubles of their real lives. You wrote this very well. This flows well and makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing this and thanks for entering it into my contest.

Wow, this was so wonderful to read. I understand what you mean about escaping completely.....I didn't have a great childhood, and my escape was to read. I would get lost within pages of books for hours, I never even used to hear if people were talking to me right in front of me!

This sentence also really struck a chord with me-'My characters become a part of me.' I feel the same about mine, especially Erin and Conner. People think I'm crazy when I talk about my story, as I don't say 'my characters', but 'Erin and conner' instead!
Writing is wonderful, and you have definately captured that in this piece. It was wrote so emotionally, and with so much of yourself behind it, it was as though you were talking to me.
A really great piece, and I hope you do really well in the contest, you definately deserve it, well done!
*Oh, and by the way, I'm not stalking you with all this commenting, no-one else seems to be on at this time, that's all!

Thanks :)
I've always been the same way! I use to read all the time. If I wasn't reading I would be writing. Both were pretty much my escape, and still are at times.
I know what you mean, lol. I talk about my writing a lot. Esp. the characters of Sara and Alison. Those two are like my favorite ones and I love them. I'm sure people think I'm bonkers too! It's easy though to develop a love for your most special characters.
LOL thanks. Yea, not too many people on right now. It's almost ten am here. Nearing bed time for me. I was off work last night so I've been on the net catching up on things.
