Insomnia-pt. 28

After a few minutes I'm calm again, all my anger was spent on the tree and the only thing I can focus on is the dull throbbing in my hand.  I wince and take a few deep breaths, close my eyes and try to keep my heart from beating out of my chest. 1

"You sure you're ok 'Rach?"  Damien asks.2

I nod, "yeah, I'm ok.  Just pissed but I'm calming down."  I muttered.3

He hugs me and kisses the top of my head, that alone calms me down.  I feel myself relaxing, almost to the point where I fall.  I wrap my arms around his waist and hug him back.4

"She shouldn't have hit you."  He says into my hair.5

"It's not a normal thing...I just pissed her off."  I tell him, "I didn't mean for what I said to come out like that.  I didn't even mean to say that I wasn't my dad it just-it just came out like that."  6

Damien kisses me, "I know,"  he whispers.  7

"Ahem."  Jordan says awkwardly, and I can hear Alex giggle a little bit.8

I snort, Damien and I turn to them, we all share a knowing glance but when one of us melts down in front of the others it's just everyone else's jobs to bring them out of the slump.  I knew they saw me hit the tree, I knew they saw me explode but I could tell we wanted things to be like it'd never happened. It's just the way things are.  Damien puts an arm around my waist.9

"You gonna live?"  Jordan asks.10

I nod, "better get headed home though, my mom's gonna want to talk about this I'm sure."  I roll my eyes, "I hate it when she goes on a huge estrogen fest."  11

They nod, "want us to come with?  Make sure she doesn't blow up on you again?"  Damien asks.  12

"If she does blow up on her again I'll kill her."  Alex growls.13

"'Lex, hun, it's alright.  She won't...I just lost control and so did she.  If it happens again I'll tell you as long as you don't kill her."  I say, holding my arms up. 14

She nods, "Ok, let's go then."  15

Jordan and Alex climb into their car and Damien and I climb into his.  As we drive I lay my head against the window, feeling the cool glass on my skin.  Damien rubs my thigh gently and we pull into the parking lot of my house.  16

We all get out, I feel safe in the company of Alex, Jordan and Damien and I see that my mom's car is gone...nice.  I open the door and make them wait outside while I turn off the alarm so the cops don't show up or something and we all go up into my room.17
