"Hey, aren't you gonna order something, Kay?" she asks, her eyes boring a hole through my forehead.1
"I...umm...I'm not hungry," I lie. "I had a huge...snack before we came here." I try to cover up the sudden grumble of my stomach with a loud, pretend sneeze.2
"Okay," Kristy says slowly. "You sure? You look hungry to me."3
I smile.4
"I'm not hungry, Kris," I repeat.5
"You're not on that dumb diet still, are you?" she asks worriedly. "You're already thin, Kay. You look great. Now have some fries or something."6
"I'm not hungry," I say, for the last time, an edge to my voice. "Don't do this to me, Kristy."7
Kristy stares at me for a long time before ordering her food - a huge, greasy cheeseburger with a side order of fries and a large Coke.8
I try not to look at her eat her food. The emptiness in my stomach is going to kill me sometime soon if I keep looking at people eat food.9
"You want a bite?" She offers me a handful of salty fries. I almost reach out and grab them but stop myself. I have to lose the extra pounds I have. I try not to think of my huge stomach that sticks out when I walk.10
"No," I say. "I told you, Kristy."11
"That you're not hungry?" She rolls her eyes. "Kay, every one in this restaurant can tell that you're hungry. Have something to eat." Her face is dead serious now.12
"Kristy," I say quietly, "something's wrong with me."13
She drops her food and wipes her grease on her napkins.14
"Kay, I can help you," she says. She wraps her arms around my waist.15
"What's happening to me?" I ask, trying not to cry. "I want to eat, but I can't. I wanna lose the weight I have."16
"You have an eating disorder," Kristy answers calmly. "You're so skinny I can see your bones through your shirt." She stands up. "Now," she says, addressing the man behind the counter, "get me two double cheeseburgers with some large fries and a Sprite."17
I stare at her.18
"I don't think I'll be able to eat all of that food," I say, smiling.19
Kristy laughs and hugs me again.

Good Start.
I agree with Wolfie. I want more. I Need more. You always leave me wanting more. If Kay has an eating disorder she will still struggle trying to eat the food. You could explore that. She will want to purge if she does eat. Kristy could help her fight that. Just knowing there is a problem and getting her to eat something won't make the problem go away. Kay needs professional help. Kristy could go with her to talk to her parents about it. Maybe Kay would argue that her parents wouldn't understand. Perhaps her mom is naturally skinny and always harpped on Kay about "getting fat" in the first place and that could be part of what caused part of the disorder. Kristy could eventually talk Kay into talking to a counsler at school and she might get some help that way. Meanwhile you made me want to eat so give me some of those fries.
