Adventures of Trixie the

The Statue of Liberty !2

Well my dear friends, our little mouse is off on another wild adventure today.
In this chapter, she is going to New York City ( the Big Apple ! ) to see in person, that famous Statue of Liberty and to soak in some of that New York culture, she had another one of her famous cousins with whom she could stay.
It was her cousin, Maxie. Who had a beautiful mouse whole right downtown just off Central Park.4

She boarded the “Greyhound Bus ” ( which is her favourite way to travel. the next day, she didn’t want to be too
stark.
She had a nice sleep on the bus ride, so when she arrived at Maxie’s comfortable home she was ready to go
exploring.
Trixie told Maxie about her nice nap on the bus, and how everyone was upset because she was snoring.
Then the two cousins set off arm in arm to see the famous Statue.
They took the tour, and one of the first things they learned was that the statue was a gift from France on the 100th Anniversary of the Birthday of the United States, and was a kind of a virtue.5

Did you know also that the Statue made it’s debute at the World’s Fair in Paris in 1899.
The Statue was started in 1875 and completed in June 1884.
Well Trixie whistled softly, “ Wow this is pretty exciting, eh Maxie. ” Trixie said.
They were both getting a little hungry by now and they started looking for someplace to eat.
They found a nice little restaurant, and sat down to a nice lunch of Swiss Cheese and ham.
After lunch it was time to climb up to the top of the head.
The two little mice huffed and puffed all the way to the top.8

You used to be able to go outside of the head and walk around but they had to stop that because people were doing some pretty crazy things.
Trixie and Maxie were looking through those telescopes that you put money in.
And Trixie noticed something strange going on at the top of the torch.
A man looked like he was getting ready to jump.
“ Oh no ! ” yelled at the top of her voice, “ please don’t jump. ”
The man was so startled by her voice that he stopped and grabbed on to the torch.
Once back inside he hugged Trixie and thanked her so much for saving his life.10

The two little mice walked back with the biggest grins on their little mouse faces.
The End
