All the time in the world to discover ourselves2
But why wait that long3
When you can find out so much 4
By facing your fears5
It started out 6
Way inside my comfort zone7
But 5 days changed me (not for the worse I hope)8
Stretched even on the 1st day9
Canoed 4 miles down a river10
The agony of the aching arms after a while11
But we all supported eachother12
And made it through the waves13
The came the jeti jump14
6 metres down into freezing water15
My underwater phobia16
Shocked out of me17
It only takes one step to go over the edge into the deep18
But it takes so much to move that tiny distance19
When day two came20
My stomach was flipping over like crazy21
Climbing and abseiling22
Abseiling was an interseting experience23
I screamed for 20 minutes solid24
Going over the edge and realsing you can't climb back up is the worst feeling ever25
Yet when you reach the bottom26
And everyone hugs you 27
You are the proudest person ever28
Climbing was better29
I didn't need to look down30
So there was no screaming about the height31
And no freezing half way down whilst threatening to kill the instructor32
For the first time something comical happened33
Someone landed on my head and pinned me inbetween 2 rocks34
It was so funny because i couldnt get out with laughing35
It may not sound fun but when you have already been through the scariest thing ever that day you laugh at just about anything with that constant feeling of happiness 36
The third day37
This is starting to sound like the making of the world text in the bible but oh well!!38
We went on a 2day trek39
Cader Idris- the mountain I won't forget in a hurry40
When you have nothing left to give you have to push on up the path to climb to the top41
The scree slope was the worst42
Someone had a panic attack43
I very nearly did44
But somehow I held my nerve45
We reached the top 46
It was so beautiful47
The memories will never leave my mind48
We carried on down the mountain49
We hit the campsite and ate dinner over stoves which was totally surreal 50
I nearly caused a forest fire lighting the thing!!51
Then came the shit shovel- legendary within the centre but no one had to use it thank goodness!!52
Day 4(2nd day of the expedition)53
Woke up really nervous and tired54
2 hours sleep in 5 minute intervals the night before had done me no good55
My sleeping bag had been wet56
And i was nervous about the gorge walk we had to do57
We packed up early and let down the tents58
At 9 o'clock in the mornign we were stood in wetsuits, buyoncy aids, waterproofs and boots59
Then came the trek to the top of the gorge60
Not too bad but then I looked down into it61
The water was rushing down62
So deep the bottom looked pitch black63
Waterfalls were everywhere64
And we had to go down them with no ropes attached65
The getting in was fun 66
Sliding and kind of swimming for a bit67
Yet ten minutes later the cold took over68
Somehow you had to move and keep your nerve whilst feeling like knives were stabbing you all over69
The whole group was crying 70
We felt so close but even with support in the conditions we were in I couldn't make the final jump71
I was shivering and feeling sleepy72
My fear of heights returned to haunt me73
I had to be pulled out by the instructors and shouted out again and agin to make me stay there somehow74
4 hours later we were warm, dry and sat eating lunch in the minibus75
Everyone had been challenged so much and we all felt proud becasue individually we had all gone as far as we could go76
Day 577
As the final day we had one last challenge78
The ropes course and the trapeze79
I froze a metre above the ground on a wooden plank not able to make the 1st move let alone the 1st section80
For yet another time I was crying but it didn't matter anymore81
Embarrasment was not possible around such incredible people82
The relief of coming down83
Then the trapeze/telegraph pole84
I was one of the last to go85
It looked simple86
A metal ladder then 6 simple wooden pegs to take me to the top of the pole87
You had to stand on top and jump88
Fear of heights 89
How I hate it because I froze again but knew i had gone far enough and as the last challenge I had done what I had come to do90
As a final thing i would like to thank my friends for thier texts and phone calls each night keeping me sane91
And also the friends I made on the trip92
Scot group were the best- Anya,laura.hannah,martha.nat,ryan,matt,ellen,josh,iz and mike93
Jakob and petja were really great insructors. they knew how much we had achieved and what our challenges for oursleves would be , they also helped me realise how amazing life can be!!94
