I showed Maggie and Sasha a video last night on sex subliminals in Disney cartoons. They were shocked, understandably; especially Maggie. ‘That’s seriously scary,’ she said. ‘Why would they want to do that?’ Her confusion was to be expected. After all, she has been asleep her entire life, as has Sasha and everyone else I know, to varying degrees.1

‘Why do you think they’d want to do that?’ I asked.2

‘I don’t know,’ she said. ‘They must be paedophiles.’3

‘Yes, they must be,’ I said. And isn’t that a mind-shattering thing to contemplate? Doesn’t it reorder your world and make you want to ask questions and research it further? And I wanted to tell her why they would want to do that. I wanted to tell her about the New World Order and the Illuminati and their Satanist practices, including paedophilia. I wanted to tell her about the ‘elite,’ and I wanted to shout at her, ‘Wake up! You’re living an illusion!’4

But I didn’t do any of that, because I know she would look at me like I’m some kind of lunatic. I know she’s far more interested in discussing boys with Sasha. I know it would send her into shock and cause her to shut down and withdraw.5

I saw her today. She seems to have forgotten all about it. After all, it has no real relevance to her every day life, as far as she’s concerned. She thinks she has more pressing things to worry about. I doubt she’s researched it any further, and I doubt she’s thought much more about it. After all, it’s disturbing to think about. It’s scary, and it’s far more comfortable to ignore it and go on living a normal life.6

As for Sasha, she wasn’t as surprised as Maggie. She had already heard about the subliminals. I can’t quite gauge her attitude, though. It seems to be something like, ‘Yep, there are sick fucks in the world, but that’s just the way it is.’ Perhaps she’s fatalistic. Perhaps she doesn’t really care. Who knows? But this seems to be the prevailing attitude amongst people. They are so conditioned to feel small and powerless that it has become a reflex response. There seems to be a vague idea that there will always be evil in the world.7

Such defeatist pessimism makes me sick. I often have to remind myself that people have a choice, and they deserve the consequences of that choice. I have no obligation to save them. I can only try and spark them into questioning their reality.8
