The reason why...

As Lilly sat down in the waiting room, she felt a chill go down her spine. For the last few weeks she’s been having strange dreams. Her mother got her an appointment with a counsellor but Lilly did not know what the big deal was, they were just dreams. 1

"How are you doing?" her mom asked her as she sat down.2

She looked at her mom "How am I doing?! I am sitting in a room filled with crazy people, and I think that this 'doctor' thinks that I'm crazy too!!!!" she whispered to her harshly "Yes, I'm doing fine!"3

Just then, a lady called out "Miss. Doshink!" Lilly looked at her mother "Please don't make me go!" she begged. Her mum shrugged and mouthed the words 'go'. And with that, Lilly got up and walked toward the door and opened it.4

She was surprised to see that the doctor was a woman; she was expecting a 60 year old man.5

The doctor looked at her and smiled. "And you must be Lilly, come in." She said in a soothing voice. "Sit down and tell me about these dreams of yours." 6

Lilly sighed and looked out the window. "The dreams started out as a man's face. Then it grew into a man walking down a side walk."7

"Then he got stabbed..." Lilly finished. "But what made you come here?" The doctor asked again.8

"Because of this." She answered and pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket. "I found this 3 days later." Lilly handed it to her and breathed deeply, it read: 'MAN STABBED TO DEATH ON SIDEWALK'.9

"How is it possible?" Lilly asked. The doctor looked at her and sighed. "I wish I knew, here." She gave Lilly a piece of paper and gave it to her. "Call me if you have any more dreams."10

Later that night, Lilly was dreaming about a woman in a bedroom. Then a big bang and she woke up. She breathed in deeply and whispered 'The Doctor!'11

Her heart skipped a beat. She had to warn her! She picked up the phone and dialled the number.... No answer, try again, no answer.12

"Ok, don't panic, don't panic...... I’m PANICING!!!!!!!!!!!!" She yelled to herself.13

What to do, what to do? She can't call the cops; they'll think she's crazy. She can't call mum, she'll say go back to bed. She had to act.14

She got changed and ran as fast as she could to her car. She remembered that in the dream, out the window was a sign saying Wilson st. She got there to see a man breaking through a window. She got out of the car and whispered to herself "Not if I can help it!" and ran after him. Inside, all the lights were off and there was stillness in the air.15

She caught up to the man going up the stairs and tackled him from behind. He tried to reach into his pocket and Lilly smacked his hand away just as a light turned on upstairs. A second later, the Doctor’s face appeared looking down the stairs saying "What in the..?"16

"Run!" Lilly screamed as she wrestled with the man.17

The doctor’s jaw dropped as she recognised her “Lilly?”18

“Just run!” she yelled and elbowed the man in the back. The man returned the blow and elbowed her in the face. She touched where he hit her and came back with blood. “This has to stop!” she said to herself.19

She could hear police sirens in the distance so she pushed the man into a nearby closet and locked it from the outside. The man cursed and thumped the door just as the police pulled up outside. She came out and told them that she was in the neighbourhood when she saw a man breaking into a house.20
