A Little Girl

There was once a little girl,
She wouldn’t dance or twirl.1

Her parents wouldn’t listen,
Even when she tried to get their attention.2

She would try to be as good as can be,
But her parents never showed any glee.3

She would act bad and rude,
But her parents never noticed her attitude.4

Every night when she went to bed,
She could never rest her head.5

She thought, things are so bad,
I’ll always stay sad.6

Until one day someone walked in,
And it wasn’t Mom or Dad it was someone thin.7

She was tall and lean,
And the little girl hoped she wasn’t mean.8

The lady leaned down and smiled,
She said, “I’m happy to meet you, child.”9

Mom walked in suddenly,
And she said, “Meet your new nanny.”10

So Mom and Dad left again,
But she didn’t care ‘cause she had a new friend!11

They played hide-and-seek,
And Nanny told the story of, “Little Bo Peep.”12

When they went outside,
The little girl almost cried.13

Nanny asked what was a matter,
And the girl said, “This is where my dog got flatter!”14

She told her nanny about the time she took her dog for a walk,
And how a truck did not stop.15

It ran over her poor dog,
And when she poked it, it felt like a log.16

Nanny thought that that was gross,
But the little girl said the trucker was toast.17

The girl and the nanny laughed a lot,
Until Mom and Dad came back from their dance spot.18

The little girl was sad to see Nanny go,
But Nanny promised she would come back tomorrow.19

She smiled and thought,
What a great nanny I got.
