Capter 9 Home At Last

“Tommy, wake up. Come on sweetheart, it’s time to go.” Tommy heard a familiar voice saying to him softly.1

At first he thought it was Mr. Frogg telling him it was time to go into the maze of tunnels. As he blinked his eyes open he was very surprised to see that he was outside.2

“Are you awake yet honey?” He heard another voice ask from behind him.3

Now this voice was also familiar to him, but it couldn’t possibly be Mr. Frogg. It was a woman’s voice. Suddenly Tommy was wide awake. Those were his parents’ voices!4

“Mom! Dad! You found me!” Tommy yelled happily.5

“Of course we did son.” His dad said with a smile.6

“Why wouldn’t we be able to find you?” His mother asked as she led him to their car.7

“How did you find your way through that maze of tunnels?” Tommy asked as he put on his seat belt.8

“What tunnels?” His mom and dad asked at the same time as they shut their car doors.9

“Jinks, you owe me a pop.” His mom told his dad with a laugh.10

“The ones in the mountain that go to the extremely strange world.” Tommy told them as his dad started the car.11

“What are you talking about?” His mom asked as the car slowly pulled away from their campsite.12

“The extremely strange world where everything looks very different. The sun was an extremely strange green. There were extremely strange pink stars shining in the daytime and the clouds were an extremely strange purple. I drank from an extremely strange golden lake which had extremely strange golden fish swimming in it, although I must say they are delicious. One of them almost bit my nose while I was drinking from the lake. There were fields of deep blue grass. You should have seen the trees. There was a whole forest of huge blue trees with the strangest red leaves on them. Then there was Mr. Frogg. He was a kind old man who lived inside these three huge trees that all grew together like one extremely strange gigantic tree. He had a strange looking dog named Scarf who gobbled his food faster than I’ve ever seen any dog eat and he had a mule named Riggins that went into his basement through a tunnel. He carried Mr. Frogg’s supplies for him. Mr. Frogg said he would help me get home. He probably brought me through the tunnels and left me where you found me.” Tommy excitedly explained, trying to shake his confusion.13

“Sounds like you had an interesting dream.” His dad said with a laugh.14

“But it all seemed so real.” Tommy said shaking his head.15

“Sometimes they do.” His mom said with an understanding smile.16

‘Was it all just a dream,’ Tommy sat there wondering. He was positive it was real. He could almost taste the extremely strange foods Mr. Frogg had shared with him. He quickly shoved his hand in his pocket. “What’s this?” He asked with a smile as he held up the hard fruit center.17

“Some kind of seed.” His mom said as she took it from him.18

“Well, actually it would probably be called a pit. Looks like it’s from some kind of fruit but I’ve never seen one quite like that before.” His dad said after glancing at it.19

“Where’d you get it?” His mom and dad asked at the same time.20

“Jinks, you owe Me a pop.” His dad told his mom with a smile.21

“Like I was saying...” Tommy began one again.22

      Thank you.

I'm not so sure I would call it amazing but it was nice of you to say that.

      Noooo...

Mr. Frogg didn't die. What made you think that? Or are you just teasing me? Yes it was supposed to be strange...Extremely Strange in fact. I'm glad you liked my illustrations. Don't sell yourself short. You might surprise yourself. I did the first time I sat down and drew a portrait. Thanks again.

Well it is extremely extreme which seems extremely fitting.

Yes and part of the reason is because I love to eat pie. Now since I think you are teasing me I may still tickle you to pieces.

I have an electric wire attached to my body. I don't think you'll want to tickle me anymore.
