Friends

I’m going to write about my friends.  How I met them, and why they’re important to me.  I’m sorry if I accidentally miss one.  I’m tired.1

On the first day of school, when I walked into band, Aerica was sitting by a girl who I’d never seen before.  I thought she was a sophomore, but it turns out she was a new freshman, just moved from Derby.  She played clarinet and violin.  Through band, she and I became friends.  She’s awesome, huggable, and her ponytail is mine.  Noelle Lewis.2

On the first day of school, when I walked into Geometry, there was only one seat open; to sit by two girls I didn’t know.  I was scared out of my mind, especially since I knew they were older.  Becky Duncan and Heidi Griffin.3

Heidi, Becky, and I sat together for three nine weeks.  Thus was born commie sheep.  Becky moved away during the third nine weeks of school.  It was very sad, but Heidi and I managed.  Becky comes down some weekends.  We go play pool at R.D.’s or go to Wal*Mart.  It’s pretty fun.  She’s crazy, no conscience.  I’ve seen her double the speed limit.  Becky Duncan.4

When the three members of the Geometry group became two, it was a little quieter, a little more peaceful.  The two of us really got to know each other better.  She has different beliefs than me, but that never bothered me.  Sometimes we’d argue, but it never went past the day.  She’s very communist sheep, very awesome, very Pookie.  Heidi Griffin.5

I’ve known these three knuckleheads since I can remember.  They’re crazy video-game fanatics.  They can be pervs sometimes, but that never really bothered me too much.  They may not call me their friend, but I can call them mine.  Ryan Malanchuk, Jacob Griffith, and Alex Mallat.6

I’ve already talked about my elementary friends.  They’re great, even though sometimes they bug the crap out of me.  I’m sure I’ve bugged the crap out of them, too.  Two of them, I’m not really friends with anymore.  It’s rather saddening, really.  Casey Lane, Brianna Ray, Melody Penner, and Aerica Van Dorn.7

I never really understood what was up with him.  A major Trekkie, wouldn’t stop poking me until I practically tore my vocal cords yelling at him.  Erin Fees.8

I never said goodbye.  Marcus Donart.9

I never said goodbye.  Alastair Fynn Kunz.10

I’m not really sure how many of the people listed below are my friends, but I’ll count them anyway, since they have potential to be friends, I guess.  Sometimes I’m just not sure who’s my friend and who’s my acquaintance.  Mike Hill, Michael Walker, Ashley Harms, Ben Ritter, Caitlin Sheridan, Katie (sp?) Townsend, Jeff Nelson, Sam Weichman, and Jace Webb.11

My senior friends!  I don’t remember how I met each one, to be quite honest.  But that’s okay, you know it?  Andrea Faris, Cassie Scarlett, and Whitney Riley.12

My Derby friends.  I met them through Noelle.  I don’t really know them that well, but that’s always subject to change.  James the limo driver and Nathan Whitman.13

I’ve talked to him on the internet for a straight eight and a half hours before.  Of course, I was also doing other stuff on the internet, but it’s pretty crazy.  I’ve talked to him on the internet a whole lot more than in real life.  He’s one of the people I eat lunch with.  This is probably going to sound mean, you know, but he’s not like one of the guy friends.  Ben Holladay.14

We just met not that long ago.  She’s crazy and all sorts of fun.  She has awesome ringtones.  Haha!  I’m probably going to spell her name wrong.  Kim Sengmeny.15

We just met about a month ago.  There’s a heck of a lot I don’t know about him, but from what I’ve seen he’s awesome.  Wayne Hawkins.16

Friends of the family.  I’ve known them all my life, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.  They are awesome, awesome people.  Jasmine Pfingsten and Julie Straut.17

We’ve had a lot of rocky moments.  Lots of arguments, but it always turned out okay.  A lot of stuff bothers me about him, and a lot of stuff bothers him about me.  But that never stopped anything.  Chance Carmichael.18

We met awhile ago, I think, but we didn’t really become friends until we started talking after a sort of deal we made.  It’s complicated, so I won’t bother to explain.  Please don’t ask.  The deal was cancelled for the time being, but that didn’t stop us from talking or anything.  There’s a lot more stories I could put for this one, but I don’t really want to, no offense of course.  Steve Randolph.19

If I forgot you, I apologize.20

Meh. That doesn't really offend me. My theory about Wayne is he's in the witness protection program, anything else would be horribly boring.

Well, he's told me a couple things I don't have the liberty to repeat.

"he's not like one of the guy friends" means, in a nutshell, I think of you as one of my chick friends. Hate to say it, but it's true... sorry! =-(

I really really liked this, gave me a strange feeling. It got me thinking of how I met all of my best friends and how those days that I met them were the best days of my life. It gave me a feeling of, I guess, nostalgia. It was really good.

Katey Townsend. Nobody knows much about Wayne. Ali might, but she never tells me the full story. Just tiny bits, "He's had a hard life," or "No matter what you're going through he can relate." What does, "he’s not like one of the guy friends," mean?
