The shadows cried out, their hands stretching out to touch the battered skin of the boy. His eyes were closed, but the peace of sleep was lost on him, and his face was contorted with pain. A pale imitation of a whimper gathered in the base of his throat, grunting out animalistically as a tremble overtakes him, but no one hears. He is alone, in the darkness. He is forgotten.1
CH 1.2
Caeden smiles as he is awakened by the soft kiss of his lover. His eyes flutter open, looking into the crystalline blue eyes of the other male, taking in the warm smile, the messy lock of chestnut brown hair that brushes against the other's forehead. A soft sigh fills his lungs as he last of his sleep leaves him, and he raises a strong hand to brush the hair aside, lest it obstruct his view of those lovely eyes.3
"Good morning to you, to, Timothy," Caeden murmurs softly. "What time is it?"4
Timothy's smile broadens as he nuzzles into the soft hand, before sitting up, gathering his terrycloth robe around his body.5
"Oh, about 11am .." He replies, as Caeden crawls nude from under the fluffy comforter, and heads towards the bathroom. "You just looked so cute, lying there, I didn't want to wake you up, but .. you know .. plans"6
Chuckling as he closes the medicine cabinet, toothbrush in hand, Caeden pauses, caught in his own gaze. Thoughtfully, he notes the glare of the fluorescent lights in his dark brown eyes. Running his hand through his short black hair, he chuckles again, calling back into the other room.7
"Yes, I know, Timothy. I wouldn't forget, I know how important this is to you. My little historian .. " Squeezing the toothpaste onto the brush, he looks up as Timothy enters the room, leaning against the door frame, and letting his robe slip open. A teasing smile grows on the younger male's face, as he arches a thin brow, coyly asking, "But I think you need a shower .. you're all muddy."8
A broad grin fills Caeden's face, as he sets down the toothbrush, forgotten, and goes to embrace his lover. "Indeed, we should take a nice, long shower." As Timothy slips off his robe completely, Caeden leads him to the shower, and soon they're both lost in the rush of the water.9
