Ed's quest part 2

History says that his card was swiped and his details taken for a crime scam. Ed didn't notice anything but then how could he? He was on a bus, a dirty one at that, looking for Louise and trying to remember all the training he had had. All he came up with was 'Keep low' and 'A battle not fought is a battle won'. There was always the X code but that could never really help, it was just a series of numbers taught to him by his uncle. 'It'll save your life one day' he said; 'You'll need it one day' he said. To be perfectly honest, Edward was looking more at the car that remembering the numbers. 94682. That was it. Maybe he could tell it better: -1

'Me and my uncle went to the garage today. He has this nice silver car. I mean really nice, with AC and loads of buttons, half of which I can't see any purpose for. and he kept telling me 'negative 5, 2, 2, absolute 2'. They were to 'apply to the key'. Whatever that meant. But his car, I mean it was wow...'2

That was part of a 3 page spread on the car. Lets just say he liked it. And that is where he was headed. With GPS and Nitro(on the legal limit. Mostly...) it was a good car to have in these times. It also had a nice frame made of some strong alloy he'd never heard of. There was once a time that Uncle had been at a crash only  the truck was crumpled and there was no other car. Uncle swerved into the pavement at the same time, with no explanation. I trust him. Ed still doesn't but hey, Uncle never did anything to anyone. Wouldn't harm a fly. Really. Enough about Uncle.3

The bus arrived at the destination with bump. Transport was quicker now that the bus's had got subspace approval. But the fairs were a bit more expensive, based on how far you traveled rather than where you travelled. Due to accelerations in quantum research, the bus's now asked where you wanted to go and went there. Up to about 20 people could be shifted to various destinations at the same time. The military applications of this showed, but more of that later. He stepped out of the bus and said thank you, trying not to fall with the zoom of the bus. Schedule's were tighter than ever before and the quantum bus's had to regroup before the next stop. Quite a buzz, being in 20 places at once. Enough of my rambling. he arrived at uncle's to find a note that read like this.4

'Edward, This is going to be awkward. The key is 9 and the car is yours. Use her well.'5

'Her?' he thought. No matter. He went over to the car and found a fingerprint scanner in the place of the keyhole. 6

'Key derivative please' came the voice. It was a female voice, not particularly pretty but then not ugly either. If you can apply such stereotypes to audio.7

'Nine' he replied. 'Nine' he repeated, slightly irritated. Then he remembered what his uncle had said. Oh how cliché it had all turned out to be. 'Four Six Eight Two.' The car opened with one of those cool open-at-the-top doors, the ones with the hinge at the top and not the side. There was even a nice hydraulic shhhhh as it opened. The interior was leather, naturally, with nice crumple marks where he and uncle took their drives. The drivers seat was his now. With the driving laws laxed severely in an attempt to lessen car crime, he only had to be 15 to drive. he was above that so he had nothing to worry about.8

'Hello, what are your needs' She/it said in a excitable monotone voice.9

'It speaks!' proclaimed Edward[well what word would you use?]10

'I am not an it, My name is Kathrine. What are you needs?' Kathrine said with a more condescending tone.11

'Umm, well, I came here to find Louise.'12

    'DNA sample please'13

    'Umm, sorry don't have one'14

'What, you want me to find someone but you don't have DNA?'15

'Sorry, I didn't expect to find a DNA tracker when the enemy started attacking. Next time I'll prepare for the suprise attack shall I?'16

'You do that. What are you needs?'17

It carried on like this for quite some time. Detailing what Kath was and what she did and what was happening. I think that Kath's observer puts her description the best, after all, hes an observer.18

Author notes

More of a thing about the observers, same basic stuff as the first part.
