A spot of luck

Trouble had always found Keela, or was it that she always found trouble?1

Keela stared at the great german shepherd who was growling deeply at her. He was six, no seven times bigger than her, and here he was threatening a defenseless juvenile cat. 2

She had managed to jump up onto a wheely bin out of reach of the salivating dog, yet, it was windy and the dog stubborn.
The wheely bin shook again as the dog charged it. Keela hissed a warning at him. Puffing her tail up, she arched her back and tried to make herself look as big as possible.3

The german shepherd jumped up and tried to nip her. She swiped for his nose. The dog leapt back stunned and whined as the pain registered in his thick head. 4

Keela took the second to leap for the near-by fence. Only it wasn't quite as near as she thought. She smacked hard against the fence and dug her claws in desperately trying to keep hold. The wind blew hard, shaking it and Keela lost her grip. 5

She landed on all fours and sprang off immediately in the opposite direction of the dog. She heard him running behind her, almost at her heels. He was panting heavily and she could smell his dog breath strongly. 6

She turned off the main road into an alley and spotted her escape route. A window was open in the wall and it was on the first level of the house. She gracefully leapt up onto the windowsill and slipt into the house stealthily. 7

She could hear the dog going bonkers outside but she knew she was safe. For the time being.8

Taking in her surroundings, she realised that this was a ground floor flat. She could only smell one human strongly here, and took a guess that only one lived here permanently. 9

She crept around the furniture and came across a leather sofa. She reached out and scratched her two front paws into it. Pure bliss. 10

Keela suddenly felt eyes boring into her back. Slowly she turned around to see a human staring at her with a lost expression on it's face. Caught unawares she didn't know what to do. 11

Keela was a spotted silver tabby. She was of lean build and had long lanky legs like most juvenile cats. She had piercing green eyes that were like orbs.
She stared back at the human. She was a stray. She was in it's house. She looked back at the open window. Only it was shut now.12

The human bent down and reached out to her. She backed away into the corner between the wall and the sofa. She hissed quietly, scared of what it was going to do to her. 13

The human eye's frowned at her and showed both concern and pain. Keela was confused. Most humans would have leapt at her, fists flying, brooms wacking. This one however merely sat down on the floor and kept staring at her.14

Keela sat down as well and washed herself, trying to put the human off. She acted unconcerned, but she was trembling with fear inside.15

The human stood up then and walked out of the room. Keela followed it, part out of curiosity, partly because she wanted to keep it in her sight. 16

She decided that the human was male, mainly because she could smell his hormones, and they reminded her of the toms back on the streets. 17

He bent down again, this time with something in his hands. A smell wofted towards her. She'd only smelt that smell once, but she knew what it was. Chicken. 18

Thanking her lucky stars, she realised that this must be one of those rare humans who liked cats and would open their hearts to them. 19

Keela curled up on the arm of the sofa. She was still wary of the man, but he kept his distance, ever watching, ever waiting.

Aww, this is so cute! The cat in the picture is really adorable too. It's funny, my dog always lies in that position. This was a really realistic story and I really liked it. Good work!
