Prisoners

The burly man in the corner1

He always takes that spot2

His eyes are hooded and narrow3

He feels he owns something 4

At least in this world...he is master5

He say "I run this yard" to all6

Who will listen to him7

I do not doubt that some do. 8

He has his property, his punk9

Blonde boy who twas so scared 10

He looked for protection straight off11

Now who will protect him when 12

His man gets bored and trades him away13

For money or a pack of smokes? 14

The wise one sits surrounded 15

By others less intelligent than him16

They are scheming, always dreaming17

Trying to figure how to get over18

Making elaborate plans how to do it19

That quick scam, that con that this time20

Will work and we won't get caught21

Easy street, home in the Bahamas22

They are really planning their next arrest. 23

Then there are the gangs, the races24

Blacks sit with blacks, skins with skins25

If you are white and hang with blacks26

Nobody will protect you in a brawl27

If you are black and don't stick with 28

Your own kind, you will get shanked 29

Like the guy who came here with his mate30

Best friends since grade school 31

They hung like brothers, ate together32

Found him strung up last week he was killed33

By his own kind for not hanging with them.34

The trannies, we all wish to fuck them35

Who wouldn't for in this situation36

They are the closest to women we see 37

Some of them try to hide and avoid 38

Others fling themselves around to get favours39

No matter eventually all are used in some way40

We are all used here in some way 41

Kill, or be killed happens somedays 42

You just get through it...you just do. 43

I have known two of those kind, the blonde boy and the black hanging with the white, neither came out of the prison.

Good job mate, veyr nicely written, bloody disterbing but... if it wasn't people would be TRYING to get into prison.

Great job T, I am sure there is more to this than you even say. I love the part about the fools planning their next crime, how you say "they are really planning their next arrest." SO true!

This is a disturbing yet provocative insight into the prison life.
As Msahlee commented some think the life is easy and it is all about your basic survival. When it is much more than that. It is deeper, terrifying. It is an experience one cannot justify until they have themselves been through it.
I cannot even begin to fathom the life inside.
But I do know you are strong and I think that counts for something. As even though it is difficult inside you always seem to look towards the future.
    If that makes sense.

such a sadness i feel reading this.. the pain and horror You must face each day.. is enough to cause me.. Your lil sis to sit and cry... not sure i would ever be strong enough to live through that.. i might be one of them that just ends my own life.

Wow, such a vivid portrayal of life on the inside. Sometimes those of us out here think of such easy street for the prisoners for they have three square meals a day, a roof over their heads and do not have to worry about bills; as long as they take care of themselves and don't get on someone's bad side then all is well. Seeing it through your eyes changes that thought because it is so honest, an honesty that the movies we watch don't provide.
