Ghost Buster Dream 2

The Complex is exactly that.  It's a sort of laboratory where paranormal scientists run peculiar tests on the specimens I and other hunters capture and bring in.  I see no particular point in this, unless it leads to the development in improved methods of catching and destroying them.  I feel very little, if any, pity for restless spirits bent on the destruction and disruption of human life.  I do not hold with this new fangled theory that "ghosts are people too," and as such, entitled to civil rights and freedoms.  The very idea is ludicrous!  They're invisible for chrissakes!  Most of them are hostile if not downright dangerous.  If it were up to me we'd just find 'em and grind 'em, blast them all to kingdom come and let the gods that be sort them out where they belong.  1

But it's not up to me.  I do my job and I do it well: hunt them, disable them, bring them in for tests and hope to christ they aren't being voluntarily released as I've suspected.  The evidence is mounting in favor of my suspicions however; Jelly, for example, I've already caught twice before, but somehow she keeps "getting away," supposedly due to lack of the invention of a technology that can contain "live" ghosts for any length of time.  However, no single soulless freak has ever escaped while being experimented on or whatever it is the white coats do; only after all the 'coats silly data is compiled do they find a way out of The Complex and back into the lives of unexpecting and largely ignorant citizens.2

But it's not my job to keep them locked up, much as I wish it was.  I get paid to bring them in, by whatever means necessary, and that's more than enough to keep my hands full.  I was assigned a partner under the guise of helpful she would be, handling all my gear, acting as a guide and expert ghost tracker.  Two weeks later she's said less than ten words to me and I'm wondering what her job really is.  Keeping an eye on me I guess; after so many warnings and lectures on the "use of excessive force" I guess I've gotten the reputation of some sort of renegade.  But that's insane.  You can't hurt a ghost anymore than you can kill one.  Believe me, I've tried.3

Besides, it's been proven in our own barrage of tests that ghosts cannot feel pain, they can only remember it.  When they scream and writhe and howl in agony it's an act, it's just the way they think they'd act if they really did feel anything but they don't and that's that.  Dead things don't feel pain or pleasure or emotions like we do.  That's why they hate us so much.  That's why they haunt and torment us, because they're jealous and resentful, because they regret the ways they squandered their own lives and so try to ruin everyone elses'.  They're like grade school bullies or temper-tantrumming babies.  A plague is what they are.  A soulless freaking disease.  I may not know the cure but I can sure as shit be the treatment.4

you know it doesn't even matter what you write about, it's still interesting and fantastic. it's the knack you have for speaking to the reader - it's near perfect. off to part three...

Wow. Once again you amaze me. Your character is sighted for being aggresive and using excessive force... and that he can be the 'treatment for their plauge' and yet he calls the ghosts bullies! It compliments the blunt, often abrasive tone the story is written in, to give a you sense of relative coldness that is often wrought on from seeing too much and being appreciated too little.

    Great job again,
